Q. Why is Exo the nation's boy group? And why isn't BTS the nation's boy group?
Ans - Because EXO is popular in Korea.Don't deny it, EXO has the most number of Daesangs, most awarded in music shows, and most importantly, their concert tickets in Korea sell out within 0.2 seconds, and EXO is a QuintupleMillionSeller.

BTS, on the other hand, has gained more attention in the West, which is why any Western article written on K-pop always includes BTS. Plus they have won the Billboards and have been on the AMAs and American Shows too.

Let's not forget how even the smallest thing EXO members buy in Korean shops sell out within minutes. And apart from being an idol group, EXO members also have a lot of solo projects, which is why they have a wider fanbase in Korea. D.O as an actor, Suho in a Musical, Baekhyun and Kai as actors, Chen as a very popular soloist. Plus they participate in a lot of CFs, and often go for modelling too. EXO definitely has more number of fans in Korea, and Asia in general.

EXO isn't called the Nation's Pick for no reason. The President himself asked a sub-unit of EXO to accompany him to improve China-Korea relations, The Korean government chose EXO's Baekhyun to sing the National Anthem for the Olympics *twice*, and EXO represented South Korea in Pyeongchang Olympics 2018.

Let's also consider Do Kyungsoo as one of the top idol-actors in Korea, which led to EXO gaining even more popularity there. And the fact that he's a part of the famous Jo In Sung Club, which is why people recognise him along with EXO. Sehun too, has good connections with a lot of well-known Korean actors.

EXO as artists are also known as 'Idol of Idols'. They are known everywhere. Most of the idols mention EXO (mostly Kai, D.O) when asked which senior groups they look up to. Especially rising k-pop groups. Ateez, Oneus, The Boyz, SF9, Golden Child etc., as well as other third generation groups - Wanna One, NCT, Twice, Monsta X. Oh, and ofcourse, ALL of the Produce 101 trainees. I forgot the number of times they mentioned EXO as their dream group. I guess the Korean public is just comfortable with EXO as most of their activities are based off in Korea.

Also, Korean President Moon invited EXO to the cocktail reception for Donald Trump's visit to South Korea. The Blue House literally chose EXO for so many diplomatic events; they were even sent to China when there was a delicate situation to ease matters, and even made medals in their name. I believe EXO are truly influential in Korea in general.

Plus, if you guys have watch the idol show “Produce 101 season 4” which is “Produce X 101” in this year. The show fist air in episode 1 opening, the MC asked the trainees and audiences ‘who is the first male group that come to your mind in K-pop?’ and all the audiences and even trainees shouted ‘EXO!!!’ and the MC say “Yes. The king of K-pop, EXO" this already proved how famous EXO were in korea at 2019 even know BTS is already very famous too. Also, a lot of male idol group even mentioned their dream group is to be EXO. Because of this there’s no denying that EXO is still the first pick in Korea. Last, most importantly, EXO is the first group to received the Prime Minister Award (which is higher than Daesang) at the 2017 Korean Popular Culture & Arts Awards for their contributions to the music industry.
