RAMONA PHAM is not a particularly meek girl

RAMONA PHAM is not a particularly meek girl. While among certain company she may fall rather quiet— and while her small stature and kind eyes may lead many to the poorly-based conclusion that she is frail, the assumption that she is weak is just that, an assumption. The fact is that thick skin is an unavoidable trait when you consider Ramona's life up until now.

Born to one of the most renowned potion-makers in Europe and second child after a brilliant brother who seems very likely to follow in his mother's footsteps— Ramona swallows criticism as easily as air. Her lungs are adept to it after all. The Pham household is not familial— it is not game nights, or dinner's around one table, or warm touches.  Mostly, for Ramona, it is escaping at any free moment. Leaving no empty silence that her mother feels the need to fill with tact. And while it could be considered incredible that such a quiet, cold, and calculated household raised such a warm sun beam of a witch, it's really a testament to the young girl's strength.

If her upbringing was not enough— Ramona did happen to be best friends with Fred and George Weasley.  A companionship that came along with rule breaking; sneaking to hidden parts of the roof, dodging into broom closets, climbing trees in the most forbidden parts of the forbidden forest— any misdemeanor it took to fulfill the perfect vision of a trick, would be taken. There were no better teachers of cleverness and, frankly, not giving a shit what anyone else thought, than the twins. It also happened that though their household was drastically different to Ramona's— they knew what it felt like to feel inferior to their siblings in the eyes of their parents.

So, with all things considered, Ramona felt certain she could handle a little fear, and a little turmoil. Despite what others thought she certainly believed herself to be strong.

Nothing had tested that so much as her fifth year of school at Hogwarts— tangled in the adventures of Fred and George's brother, Ron and his best friend— Harry Potter; werewolves and murderers and black clocked creatures that sucked away happiness. After that she thought, well— what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right? If she could handle that, she could handle anything the wizarding world could throw at her.
