The Lion and The Mouse - KaitBUSH
She thought she heard a noise in the house. Kelly Anderson stood there and listened to the wind blow against the glass windows. It felt as though some sort of presence was stalking her, watching her. It felt as though it was so close, that it could feel every shallow breathe she took. That being felt like some close, uncomfortable occupancy was sitting very patiently, contemplating their next move. The air was getting thicker and more rugged as Kelly soon found it harder to breathe. She also anticipated the killer's attack. Like predator and prey, the lion surveyed it's prey, stalking it as it lies there and focuses on the killer's strike. It was only a couple minutes but those minutes soon began to feel like hours to poor Kelly as the watch's hands moved ever so slowly, slowly. The killer began to make his approach. Stealthily, he moved forward. He knew she was too scared to react, so terribly frightened! He took her arm firmly and she began to feel it turning purple. The mouse winced and struggled to break free from the lion's grasp. He was stronger than her and Ms. Anderson knew it. As the killer wrapped her wrists tightly together with a thick, dark layer of duct tape, he stuck a sticky piece over her lips to try and muffle the screams. He chuckled with delight as he watched he squirm and writhe. He leaned over and pressed a damp cloth over her nose. She felt her eyes roll back into her skull. It numbed her senses and filled her thoughts with a very dark and unwelcoming black.
The kidnapper hoisted her over his left shoulder with little to no effort and took her to his car. He opened the trunk with a click of his car remote and shoved her inside. He slammed the lid down with a loud thud and strode to the driver's side. The fall leaves crunching and crackling under each step he took. Finally, his black boots halted as he opened the door and ducked inside. The car started with a rumble as the killer whistled to the melody of the radio song.
The man drove south, far away from Kelly's house. Stopping only for gas and food, the killer drove for days on end. He was heading for a special little spot on the corner of highway 32. It was thick and dense where no one would find her body. But did he want to be caught? Did he want her body to be found? He pulled Kelly out of the truck as she attempted to scream and struggle her way out of his grasp. Is he going to kill me? What's he going to do? Little did Kelly know, those thoughts would be her last.
The smell of the rotting leaves and forest made Kelly sick. This was the place it was all going to end. She always imagined it would happen in a nursing home, fifty years from now. She pondered how much time she would have to live, hours or perhaps minutes? The clock started to tick. Just as Kelly was deep in thought, the killer pulled out a sharp, serrated, 6 inch long knife. The blade gleamed in the ghastly moonlight. Kelly wailed as the lion crept closer and closer. The lion pounced on the tiny mouse!
When the deed was done, when her body ran cold and empty, he cleaned his knife with an already blood stained cloth, whistling that same tune from the radio. The killer pulled out of his trunk a big, black, heavy duffel bag and heaved her lifeless body into it. He then proceeded to drag Kelly's body onto the side of the highway, as if he wanted to be found, as if the lion wanted to be caught. Just before leaving the scene, he lit a cigarette, puffed a cloud of heavy, black smoke and tossed a small white object on top of the body.

Kelly Anderson was found a week later by a highway cleanup team and was brought into the sheriff's county. What puzzled the police was not how she was murdered but why the killer had left such a big piece of evidence. The evidence was a small piece of paper. It had a small meticulous drawing of a lion holding a mouse, a page ripped out of a child's book.
