"Constance."
"Why must we wake her?"
"She still has to earn the throne. Nothing is given, everything is earned. You know the laws."
I groan at the sound of Enoch speaking with Tevilla.
"I can hear you both." I croak as I slowly open my eyes. They both look at me like I'm some fragile being, and right now I am. My body is weak a malnourished from being in that fucking cell for a week with nothing to eat and water at random times. "Must I get up?"
"I'm sorry Constance, but you have to." Tevilla says softly as she comes up beside my bed and helps me sit up straight. I cry out from the stiffness in my bones.
"We are going to take you down for breakfast and then I'm going to take you to the gym." Enoch begins as he and Tevilla help me stand. My body is weak making it hard to stand up on my own legs. I'm grateful they are here to help me walk, because I don't think I could on my own.
"What's the point of training? I'm not going to earn the throne, Marlie has the King in the palm of her hands."
"That's not true and you know it." Tevilla says in a stern tone as she steps away from me for just a moment. When she does, my knees buckle, but Enoch swoops me up in his arms bridal style. They both work together to dress me in a robe, before Enoch takes it upon himself to carry me down the steps. When we get to the dining room, I'm not surprise to see the King and Marlie already sitting at the head. I advert my gaze when I see the fucking bitch of a woman smirking at me.
"Where would you like to sit Queen?" Enoch says softly. I look at the table and find Steex smiling at me. He's beautiful eyes look glossy with tears, making me slightly more sad then I already was.
"I'd like to sit by Steex." I say softly. Although I tried not to, I glance at the King to see his nostrils flare and his fist clench on the table, yet he doesn't look up. It's my turn to smirk and ravel in his misfortune.
"Good choice." Marlie says before she snickers.
My eyes find her and I let out a low growl that makes her swallow thickly. She looks scared, and she should be. Once I have my strength, she will fight me.
It's in this very moment that I decide I won't give up on the throne, or the King. But he will kneel to me before I forgive him. He will beg and I will enjoy every fucking moment of it. This isn't just about me, this is about the people on the other side of these gate, that need a savior.
Enoch sits me beside Steex who smiles widely at me. Soon the food is being served and my mouth waters. Tevilla takes it upon herself to fix my plate, and I don't stop her. I quickly dig in when the food is in front of me. An hour later, I'm still eating, while everyone else talks.
The King has asked me at least three question's that have been met with a cold fucking shoulder, and an icy look. If his ignorant enough to think that we are all good, then he has himself fooled. When I'm full, I look up to find everyone staring at me with wide eyes, even Marlie.
"What?" I ask as I take a sip of my water. Tevilla jumps up and in a flash she's out the room. What seems like a few seconds later, she's back with a briefcase. She opens it and starts taking out her medical instruments. "Tevilla, what's going on?"
"I don't know, but it's something miraculous!" She beams as she scribbles something on her notepad before she starts to listen to my heart. I look at Steex and his smile damn near reaches his ears.
"What in the hell is wrong with you guys?"
"You're different Constance. Even beyond us." Steex says as he snaps his finger and a small mirror shows up in his hand. He then places it in front of my face and I gasp. My sunken cheeks are already full, making me look down at my body.
