The smell of your cologne lingered on my jacket as you leaned in for a kiss

That big cheesy smile was a permanent fixture on your face

I stared at you in awe as you collected your things from your truck

Dancing in place because it was cold and you laughed remarking how I'm always cold

Walking beside you was one of many favorite moments

The smallest gestures from you were always a warm surprise

You were a beast by nature

The pillow stealer

While I slept, but all I could do is laugh

The paperwork you always had to do but never managed to finish

Even on those rare occasions you were not doing okay

The smallest gesture from me made you smile

I caressed your head while you slept knowing that I had 2 minutes before you turned around

That was your thing,

Life seemed perfect by your side, just being together watching shark tank was enough for me

But nothing is perfect

The days of seeing you smile and laugh were coming to an end

I had no control over what was going to happen

Your last goodbye,

Your last kiss,

And what I always seemed to do just in case I never got to see you again,

Pulling you in closer by your hoodie to kiss you a few more times before you left,

Not knowing that would be the last time our lips would meet

I sit in my car looking to my right and wonder will you appear sitting next to me

Every space I was in created a new memory when you became part of it

You were the reason for my smile,

You were the reason for my glow,

You were the reason for my happiness,

Life left my body the day you left

No words could describe how heavy my heart felt

The phone call I never expected to get

Became a reality,

"He's gone"
