Sam thought they were in huge trouble that night but, after seeing Hamish looking ill, Professor Snape decided to let them go. Sam had never been in this kind of situation before.
Well, of course, not to mention about Roo. Roo was the most mischievous person Sam had ever met before Draco. Roo would sneak out of school at nights, just to drink and party with Nomaj folks. She would leave with or without Sam. Sam realized then their past relationship was nothing but toxic. But Sam loved her anyway.
Draco and his friends crept out later that night, carefully watching Professor Snape over their map. Sam couldn't stop thinking about how Hamish was handling his current situation. Have they perfected the potion already? What if it was a failure and a complete waste of ingredients and time? What if they decided to jinx Hagrid instead?
"What's the matter?" Hermione softly asked. She was nestled under Sam's shoulders, her fingers tracing small circles on Sam's chest.
Sam smiled, shaking her head no. She really had to stop worrying about what they did awhile ago. She didn't want Hermione to involve in this matter. She didn't want her to know what she had been up to lately.

"Misters Crabbe, Goyle, Evans, Malfoy and Miss Malfoy!" Professor Slughorn announced sternly the moment he entered the classroom. He arrived ten minutes late, the students almost wondered if he overstayed for the holidays. The sudden rollcall made all of them jump from their seats.
The hair at the back of Sam's neck stood, expecting the worst that's about to happen.
"Inside my office, now!" Then Professor Slughorn walked towards his office located just further inside the room.
Hermione squeezed Sam's hand, asking, "What's that about?"
Sam swallowed a lump in her throat as she avoided Hermione's gaze. She raised her shoulders as she replied, "Dunno.."
Hermione doesn't have to know, Sam thought. Then she glanced at her brother and his friends. They looked guilty and wary. At least Hamish looked better now. That would only prove that the potion worked.
The moment they were finally inside Professor Slughorn's office, the atmosphere changed into something eerie.
Professor Slughorn was sitting on his desk, glaring at the four of them. Sam wasn't used to see him looking angry. In fact, she hadn't seen him angry before.
After a few minutes of silence, he began, "I just got back this morning from my trip to Norway. And then I decided to go through my usual morning routine of reading books and mixing potions after potions. And then." He began walking towards his cupboard. The cupboard where they found the box containing the Valerian Roots. Draco glanced nervously at Sam but she tried to avoid him.
"I noticed that my box of Valerian roots was opened, poorly taped back to appear like it wasn't..."
Sam breathed through her mouth. This was it. She was surely going to be expelled from Hogwarts and exiled back to America.
"And, in this corner....," Professor Slughorn continued as he walked towards the other side of the room. "I noticed that one of the vials containing Amortentia is missing!"
Sam lost her balance. Amortentia? The love potion? Then she glanced at Hamish, who was the only one who looked through the other side.
"Oh, and I have listed some others as well...," he went on as he opened a list from his desk. "A couple of Wormwood from last month...
Some Wolfsbane twigs the other month... and Lacewing flies just the night before I set protective charms all over my office..."
