“Hi Dad.”

“Hello Dawn. So what’s going on? It sounds like this wedding brought about quite a storm.”

“What makes you say that?”

“Well Chris and Annie had a shouting match here this morning. Chris stormed out and I haven’t seen him since and Annie left crying.”

“Did she go with Chris?”

“No, she took a cab to the station and said she was going home. I offered her a lift, but she refused.”

“Dad it’s all such a mess and I am sorry.”

“What have you done Dawn?”

“I did nothing Dad, honestly.”

“So what provoked the punch up at your wedding that caused Annie to lose a tooth?”

“I don’t know anything about that.”

“Chris shouted something to Annie about going back to Luke. Is there something I should know?”

“Dad…Luke and I are over.”

“What do you mean, over?”

“Finished… no more…it was a mistake. The wedding was a mistake and I’m so sorry you spent all that money. I’ll get a job in Perth and work overtime if I have to but I will pay you back every penny.”

“Dawn, I’m not concerned about the money. I just want to know what happened and why you and Luke are over. You seemed so much in love.”

“Oh Dad…” Dawn started crying.

“Hey Dawnie are you okay?” Andy asked putting his arm around her.

“Who is that with you there now?”

“It’s Andy… James is here too. Andy came to rescue me… after I left Luke at the hotel.” Dawn told her father amidst sobs.

“Well tell me where you are and I’ll come and fetch you. Whatever has happened you still have a home here sweetheart and if Luke hurt you in any way, he will become acquainted with my fist.”

Dawn fought to control her sobs, leaning against Andy for comfort as she spoke. “Dad, I’m okay. He never hit me… I hit him.”

“Go on, I’m listening.”

“Well our wedding night was a disaster. He called me Annie at our most intimate…”

“You don’t have to elaborate Dawn, I understand.”

“After the way he behaved at lunch with Annie and then this… well I just knew… I just knew he’d been with her… and I kicked him…where it hurt most, twice.”

“I see. So where is Luke now and how did you get to Andy’s place?”

“I don’t know where Luke is and I don’t care and I never want to see Annie again either.” Dawn’s tears had turned to anger and she raised her voice.

“Dawn, let me speak to Andy please.”

Dawn handed the phone to Andy. “He wants to speak to you.”

“Hi Mr Grey.”

“Andy, I want an honest answer please.”

“Sure Mr Grey.”

“Is Dawn hurt in any physical way?”

“No Mr Grey, honestly she is not hurt at all. Like she said I think it’s Luke who got hurt. The only thing hurting for Dawn is her heart right now. She is better off without Luke. I just knew there was something going on between him and Annie.”
