As soon as she left the room I exhaled the air I was holding in. Her presence just chilled my bones to the core. Some may think she scared me by the way I acted, but, she didn't. I was speechless by what I saw in her eyes. They were so cold, yet, the red of her eyes glowed with an eternal anger, as if the very world she lived in betrayed her in so many ways people thought impossible. It was like she observed the movements of the things around her and challenged those who dared to even step in front of her. That much I could tell from just one proper look into her alluring red eyes. One could even tell that she always had her guard up from just the way her muscles were firm and ready for anything. She was definitely not what I expected to be behind those vile noises earlier in the day.

I looked at the bed she gestured me to use. It wasn't something you would normally choose to sleep in as the pillow looked like it had been eaten by rats, or something entirely different, judging by the jagged edges around the holes in it. Fortunately, I was too exhausted to be disgusted by it, so I removed my sneakers, leaving my socks on for warmth, and slid in under the white sheets.

I looked out the window that was above me on the wall next the bed. The moon shone with a bright intensity and lit up the room I was in, making my skin glow and my hair look ethereal. When my eyes finally shut and sleep took over me, I was thinking of an emotionless girl and the eyes that held a raging fire deep within its abyss.

...🌑...

Laughter. I can hear it clearly. Their faces were so clear and I could almost feel the warmth from their skin and smell the fragrance of home. We were dancing and messing around without a care in the world. Everything was like a dream. But that joy was short-lived as suddenly, it was cold and a deafening silence engulfed me. I could no longer hear or see anything. It was killing me to not be able to hear them anymore. To not be able to see the people I long for. It was so dark, so empty, so lonely and I screamed for them to come back. It was pointless. My pleas were turned upon and they fell on deaf ears. I ran, praying that I will somehow capture at least a glimpse but, instead, I saw just brown. A ceiling. It was a dream.

I sat up slowly on the old bed. Unknown tears stained the skin of my face so I reached up and got rid of them, as if they were never there. A heavy feeling remained in my heart because the people I dreamt of were my friends. My family of 7 including me. Having not seen them for almost a month and being trapped on this island showed me how much I really needed them. I missed them.

The faint sound of a door being opened brought me out of my misery. It must be her. She must have left the house. I was now free to hunt for a bathroom of some sort, in this unusual house, to freshen up. After quickly getting out of the creaky bed, I walked down the stairs to start my search. Upon entering the kitchen and dinning area, which was attached to the small living room by a door, I saw a bow and a quill containing wooden arrows, with metal heads, left on the wooden dining table. They looked to be hand-made and a few had some blood on it. Probably from hunting. I moved towards them in wonder. Since childhood I had a peculiar interest in archery but due to my passion for dance and lack of time, I never explored the unique sport. Before I was able to even touch them, I saw a figure from the corner of my vision. I turned around.

I was wrong about her leaving as she stood in front of me adorning black jeans, a black t-shirt, a dark brown leather jacket and brown knee-high boots. Her hands wore brown finger-less gloves while her lower arm (the right one) wore some sort of arm brace. I remembered the bow and quill and realised it was to protect her arm from the arrows as she releases them. She looked fierce as she stared at me soundlessly. Returning the stare unaffected, I rubbed my arms and then proceeded to brush my hand through my hair. I was in dire need of a shower and my search for a bathroom had been interrupted. Her eyes left mine and looked at my slightly greasy hair Her nose scrunched up so faintly that I almost didn't catch it. It was as if she could smell the uncleanliness of my body from where she was standing.

One second she was a few meters away from me, scrutinizing my smell and the next she was grabbing me by the wrist with her cold hands and dragging me somewhere in the house. I tried helplessly to loosen her grip (it was really painfully strong) but she was already pushing me roughly into a room. The bathroom. She looked at me once more and pointed to a bar of some weirdly green soap. Looking at how... organic it looked, she probably made it using some herbs. I nodded to show her I understand and she left. I took in the appearance of the bathroom as I tenderly caressed my now sore wrist. She really had a bothering habit of pulling me along with her instead of using words like 'follow me' or something appropriate.

The bathroom, astonishingly, was immaculate and sufficiently large. Unlike normal bathrooms, this one had no bath tub but in replacement, it had a large circular hole in the ground with edges of some type of smooth rock-like material and was filled with water. Like a natural Jacuzzi.

Beside the bath was a sink made of rocks and ledges above it made from wood. The surfaces underneath the sink were also made from some natural-looking, beige wood and gave the bathroom a cosy feel to it. Taking the bar of soap from next to the sink I went and stood next to the bath. I was not sure what to do. I wondered if the soap would dissolve in the water, like a bath bomb, so I dropped it into the water. Almost simultaneously, the bar dissolved and a comforting fragrance filled the air. The soap didn't make the water green, shockingly, and let the water remain clear.

Seeing that everything was going fine, I removed my clothes and stepped into the water. The water was pleasantly warm and soothed my strained muscles from years of dancing and going to the gym. I was astounded as I has assumed it would be cold since this house was in the middle of a forest. After stepping into the water, I sat on the rocky floor of the bath and made myself comfortable. I laid back a little and I glanced at the ceiling feeling peaceful. The aroma from the soap really calmed me down and allowed me to clear my head. I was definitely going to be here for a while.

...🌑...

During my long bath, I heard a soft knock from the bathroom door. The wooden door slightly opened and a towel with some clothes was slid in. The door once again closed shut and silence returned. As soon as I was done, I pat dried my body with the towel and then wore the clothes given to me. It consisted of a slightly over-sized white tee and grey sweatpants. The floor was vaguely warm so I decided not to put on the shoes I left in 'my' room and resorted to just wear the socks that she left with the clothes.

I entered the kitchen to see a plate with some food on the dining table and the girl by the stove stirring something in a pot with a wooden spoon. She turned around as she heard my footsteps and pointed towards the plate with her eyes. Acknowledging her sign, I stepped towards the table and sat down. Her eyes followed me sternly before she turned around again and returned to stirring. Picking up the wooden spoon (if you didn't realise already, almost everything here is wooden) I ate the meat and rice dish leisurely and savoured the spicy flavour. I continued eating while now and then I would raise my head and watch her cook.

Although her face usually (so far) held that emotionless expression and gave her a fearsome appearance, watching her from behind showed me a strong, young woman who held responsibilities. Her hair was very long, reaching her waist, and seemed to enshroud her slim, muscular body like a shield. It was beautiful and suited her well.

Finishing her work, she spun around and this time she held two wooden bowls within her hands. She came towards me and sat in the chair opposite mine. Soon after placing a bowl next to my plate, she picked up her spoon and drank the soup she had made. Knowing she was so close made me a bit uncomfortable as I knew she didn't like me at all yet she chooses to shelter me and give me food and even share a meal with me. She really was peculiar.

I raised my spoon and tasted the soup which I ate along with the meat I had on my plate. I immediately moaned happily as the warm substance dissolved in my mouth. It was simply exquisite. A surprised cough from in front of me reminded me that I was not alone. I looked up embarrassed and caught the slight smile she wore on her lips. She smiled! My eyes softened as she continued smiling while caught in a daze when suddenly, she saw that I was looking at her fondly and her eyes widened slightly in shock. Though, the shock left almost at the same time and her gaze hardened. Picking up her bowl and spoon, she stood up, placed her utensils on the kitchen counter (once again made of wood) and left the room.
