I approached the pair, growling in warning when I got close enough. Immediately Sam sprung up, unharmed and wide eyed when he saw me. "Mia," he let out a soft sigh when he realized who I was.

I refused to take my eyes of the vampire, still growling lowly as she stared at me wide eyed. Sam moved to stand between us, hunched down to stare me in the eye. "She knows about the white eyed vampire," he whispered to me softly, holding out a palm to show he has unharmed and truthful.

Cautiously I began to change back, hearing the Ardens' wolves pummeling through the forest towards us as they caught on. "You need to take her and leave, get back into our territory and we can discuss this later," I hissed angrily, needing to get the vampire gone before the Ardens pack grew more angry at us.

Quickly Sam took the Vampire's hand and ran off into the trees with her, leaving me to await the other hostile wolves. I was crouched when they eventually approached me, hackled raised as the scented the air and most probably smelt a Vampire. I held up my hands, "I found my pack mate, he said he chased a Vampire," I lied easily, watching as the wolves slowly let down their guard, "But it ran into yours so he followed in attempt to capture it."

The Beta emerged, walking towards me with narrowed eyes, "Is that so? Then where are they now?"

"When I got here he was still following the scent and found it leading back to our territory, so he left me here to tell you as he carried on," I answered, tight lipped and arms crossed, daring him to prove me wrong.

"I will be alerting our Alpha of this, he will probably contact you about it," the man dipped his head in farewell, turning to leave, "Make sure it doesn't happen again." I let out a soft breath of relief and watched as he changed and sent two wolves to take me to the border, keeping a careful eye on my human form as I walked alongside them.

Once I was at the border, I dismissed them and returned to the pack house, changing into my discarded clothes before entering. The house was clean of any Vampire scent, so I assumed Sam took her elsewhere. I grabbed my phone and saw a few missed calls from him and then a single message;

"I'm safe, I took her back to Julie's house, she should be fine there until I sort this out. Thank you, see you at the gathering."

I let out a relived sigh, entering the house and heading straight towards the kitchen. Drea, one of the elders, met me with a smile a plate of bacon on pancakes. She greeted me and then chattered on happily to another pack mate about Alpha Cam who was supposed to be stepping down at the gathering this evening.

"It's about time," Hanneli, the woman she spoke to, replied, "His son Caleb has been waiting since his twenty first last year to be named Alpha!" The older ladies scoffed over their tea, then falling into conversation about the Californian packs. My ears tingled at Caleb's name, my mind whisking away the name in annoyance.

He was going to have to face me tonight, whether or not he wanted to, and we had a lot to discuss. I thanked Drea for the food, lost in my thoughts as I headed towards my new office. Upon entering, a lot of Mick's stuff had been packed into boxes, an idea that made my heart clench. Trying to distract myself, I grabbed the first available book off the shelf and dove into it, soon getting lost in the laws of werewolf existence.

That evening, I met with changed pack members outside the pack house on the cool grass just as the moon was rising. "We meet in peace," I announced, scouring my eyes across the twenty or so wolves that had chosen to come. "If anyone has any grievances, feel free to take them out with me rather than directly with other packs." Wolf heads nodded in agreement with me as we set off. I changed quickly and placed my clothes in my mouth, pawing off behind everyone to make sure no one got left behind as Beta Richard lead from the front.
