Aubrey's P.O.V
Oh my gosh its time!!!
I woke up to the ringing of my alarm clock as I rushed into my bathroom to take a quick shower.
Its the day of my graduation from middle school and I'm the valedictorian of my class.
I've been working on my speech for quite a while and I hope I would deliver a good one. After having a shower, I come out wearing my robe. I immediately get a phone call so I pick it up.
"Hello."
"Please tell me you have written your speech Bree."
"Well its not like I had anything else to do. " I tell Ariana.
For some of you that guessed it, Ariana is my best friend in the whole world. She has been there through all the middle school drama and she would be there for the high school one as well.
When my other best friend had left the country, I had no other friend but Ariana. It's quite hard to find a friend like her but I guess I'm lucky. I started making friends during my last year of middle school, which was not an easy experience for me considering the fact that I'm the introverted type.
"Aubrey!!!." Ariana literally screams.
"What?" I say trying to massage my ear drums.
"I've been ranting about how I picture high school and you haven't even been listening."
Well she's not lying. But there has just been so much on my mind.
"C'mon, it can't really be all that different though. Either ways we learn."
"Yeah but high school is a different ball game entirely. It definitely can't be the same. It's like saying college is the same as high school."
Knowing she'd be pissed, I couldn't help myself from asking. "Isn't it?"
"I'm done with you Bree. We just have to find out for ourselves. I have to go though, I'm hanging up."
"Okay b-" aaaaannnd she hangs up on me.
Rude!
She hung up on me and I didn't even get the chance to ask her for what I need the most right now; a little fashion tip. What exactly can I wear that won't look disgusting?.

Fortunately, I didn't arrive at the event all too late thanks to Mom. There are so many people, how on earth will I find a seat?. I search around a little bit and then my eyes lands on a particular figure which I walk up to.
"Wow you look beautiful. Where's my best friend?" Ariana says giggling.
Ouch!
"Somewhere in the crowd. Go look for her." I say with a little bit of sarcasm.
"You know I was joking." she says a little disappointed.
"I know, I know. But you should really give me some credit. I pulled off this whole entire look without your help or that of my mom. You're meant to be showering me with compliments on how I look."
I actually think I killed it for a look I did completely by myself. I've never really been interested in dressing our makeup because I never saw the need for it. Thanks to my Mom and Ariana, I never went a day looking apologetically horrible. I was always dressed fit for occasions. Today was one of the first days I decided to do something myself and it turned out right.
"Okay, but first of, I'm not your boyfriend so I don't see the need. But if it makes you happy, you look absolutely amazing." Ariana says smiling.
"Awwn thank you. If Timothee Chalamet doesn't accept my requests, I want you to be my prom date for senior year." I say with a wide grin.
"Yeah I look forward to that." As we both crack up and start laughing.
The whole ceremony was actually boring. So many speeches!!!. Almost everyone had something to say; teachers, parents and some students who had graduated. Not gonna lie, I'm really nervous about mine. I've memorized it over and over, but I have a strong feeling that I might forget if I look directly into anybody's eyes. Eyes are the most judgmental body parts.
There were two colors of graduation gowns, white for the outgoing 8th graders and blue for the seniors.
"And to present the valedictorian speech for the 8th graders, we have Miss Aubrey Winters." The principal announced as there was a huge applause.
"Hello everyone I'm Aubrey Winters and I'm here to present the valedictory speech on behalf of the outgoing 8th graders."
"People always seem to focus on the happily ever after, when the girl gets the prince charming or when a brave knight slays the dragon. One thing they don't look at is the work behind it, how the knight worked to slay the dragon, or how the girl got her prince charming. That's how school works and basically life. We have worked hard for this success and everyone just looks at the end result which is us graduating. It's a good thing that we can celebrate our efforts and all, but how about we appreciate efforts from the start because it is really not an easy journey."
"A wise man once said and I quote: "The one thing you can do to show how much patience you have is to go to school." For someone to spend l years and in an institution is a really difficult task. There are different teachers for each subject but one student has to learn those various subjects all within a limited period. We have made it through different phases and now we are starting a new chapter. Let's acknowledge that because we have come all the way, and we are going to conquer and fulfill our dreams...Happy graduation, thank you." I say concluding my speech as the whole auditorium boomed with applause everywhere, as I walked back to my seat.
"Nice speech. You really outdid yourself. " Ariana says clearly proud.
"Thanks, it was not easy thinking of what to write. But as I started, I couldn't stop."
"Can we have the valedictorian for the seniors to come and make his speech. Ladies and gentlemen, Talon Stark." everyone applauds.
During his speech, I tried my best to listen but it gets so boring to the point where I didn't realise I was drifting off to sleep. Ariana also tries to do the same. I turn to my right to see that not only I and Ariana, but almost all the 8th graders were asleep. Turns out, it was only the seniors, teachers and few parents that were awake.
"Happy graduation." And with that, everyone applauds that the auditorium was roaring with claps and screams. That's possibly because that boring speech was over. He then throws his graduation cap and then we all the graduates do the same. Graduation is all done but now to the fun part that I never thought I will be part of: GRADUATION PARTYYY!!!
Yessir!!! The first chapter is all done. Vote if you want to, and comment how you think the speech was.😁
