Dusk. Oranges, yellows, pinks, purples, blues. All fading into black, as the sun slowly sets into the sea. Mist twirls on the surface, using moonlight as paint, casting it's glow into the darkness below.
A hum rings throughout the silence of the deep, weeding its way through crashing waves as it climbs up the bow of a ship. It moves through the thicket of fog, heading towards the crow'snest. A young girl stands at the top, the hum rises into a song.
"Siren!!"

------------------------------------

Rain crashes down on the ship, lightning crashes and thunder pounds. People run around trying to get everything prepared, they're heading into dangerous territory now. A woman sits on the rocks, her top half the only part visible. She hums lightly, smirking as the sky lights up with another piercing spike. She glares at the ship, then dives under water.
The young cabingirl runs towards a woman on the ship,
"Captain!! The siren's song is getting louder. Our crew will dive to their deaths if we don't get out the wax!"
The Captain nods, motioning her to go get it. The cabingirl runs off, she looks out at the sea, then grabs the wax. She gives each crew member some wax to stuff in their ears to keep the song from luring them. She does the same for herself then head back up the crow'snest.
One of the crew members, a young man, gets thrown to the floor as a wave crashes over him. The wax comes out of his ears. The song fills his senses, he makes a head first dive off the closest ledge. Getting swallowed by the ocean, succumbing to their arms of death.
The Captain marks something on a chart in her quarters.
'350'
She writes down the name of the boy then puts the book down on her desk.
"Ma'am?"
Captain turns around, staring at the cabin girl, "Yes?"
"A siren wants to speak to you. Aboard the ship. She's getting aggressive." She closes her eyes tightly, tears falling down her cheek.
"Calm down, nothing will happen. She's on our territory now. The consequences are known on both sides if she breaks the law." A smirk crosses her lips, she grabs a sword and heads out to meet one of the woman who has caused the death of a crew member.

The woman glares at one of the men on board, hissing as he backs away to the lower deck.
"Melantha. We meet again. You know what I said the last time; you come back here, and your head gets used as a trophy."
Melantha took a bow, moving as graceful as the tide, "Kainda, I come with gifts." Her eyes gleam as the body of the young crew boy gets thrown onto the ship by a wave, "You can have him back. He doesn't do much though, just sit there."
Kainda nods, then as quick as the lightning up above, she pulls out a sword and beheads the siren maiden. Her head getting washed into the ocean by the very water that she uses to kill.
"Everyone back to your stations. We set sail to the island. Gaitan deserves a proper burial."

------------------------------------

Melantha's head, such a sorry thing. It rides the current, the creatures of the sea push it towards the northern seas depths. It flows to the fingers of a woman, her beauty shining as she stared into the eyes of poor Melantha.
"What a tragedy. Put her with the others, the others who disobeyed the law of land and sea!" Melantha gets thrown to a sea nymph, who holds it close while swimming off.
"What am I to d-"
"You majesty? Lilura is here to see you. She's with the heir." A merman stands in position by the main entrance, his eyes staring far from the sirens'.
"Ah yes, let them in." The room brightens as each light glows brighter then a hundred suns, "Lilura, Tallulah. My daughters." The siren grabs a hold of each, hugging them tightly.
"Queen. We come here from the news of the death of our aunt, Melantha." The dark haired siren held her body up tall, and prepared for anything.
"Yes, what happened to her? How'd she die?" The light haired siren looked around, squinting ever so slightly, like she was adjusting to the bright light.
"Her own stupidity, that's how. But don't worry my dear, Tallulah. She didn't go without taking one of them with her. At least she did something right.." The Queen turns towards the merman, "Take Tallulah back to her room, maybe she can read the twins a bed time story."
"Yes, your majesty. Follow me your highness. The twins are just out in the coral." He places an arm on Tallulah, guiding her out.
"Mother? Aren't you just the least sad about your sisters death?" Lilura's eyes aren't as neutral as her face.
"I am, but I knew all to well she would do something like this again. Thinking she'd be able to kill Kainda. What a fools mistake. I told her! I told her to leave well enough alone. But no. She did this to herself." The room heats with her rage, bubbles rising.
"Mother! You need to calm down, Tallulah and the twins can sense the temperature change. We don't need to get them into this mess." Her voice floats off her lips like smoke, thick and sweet like nectar.
The temperature lowers, no longer heating up, "Thank you, my daughter. Now leave me be, I need to be with my thoughts for a while."
Lilura turns to go, closing the doors behind her.

------------------------------------

"Go to bed you two. It's time for sleep. You know mother wouldn't want you up at this time." Tallulah tucks two young sirens into a seaweed bed.
"We will sissy." The two smile happily, there eyes closing as sleep takes over them.
Tallulah closes the door, heading towards the coral gardens, ready to practice her song. So close to perfecting it. So close.
