♥Gumball's P.O.V.♥
There was a light breeze that slipped through the window of the bedroom as I sat silently on my bed. The last of the sun's beam slid along the floor, leaving the room to become smooth with the darkness that awaited the day's end and gave the candle at my bedside the responsibility to dab the darkness with it's small flare.
The sun's final goodbye blew across the sky as the moon rose above the clouds. I made my way to the balcony, staring over the Land of Aaa. Fionna would be here shortly. She invited me earlier to a party that she was hosting for Christmas Eve, due to Cake leaving with Lord Monochromacorn to visit his family for the holidays. And I was going to go to make Fionna happy, even if he was attending too. So, here I wait impatiently for her to come. She was twenty minutes later than she had promised to be. Irritated, I sighed.
I placed my hands against the cool balcony's railing and inhaled some of the fresh winter air that slapped my bubblegum hair around. When suddenly, there was a click on the bedroom door. Thinking that it was Fionna, I turned to face my friend.
Instead of the small, curved figure with a floppy eared bunny hat that I had hoped to see, there stood a tall, dark, thin figure. I crossed my arms as the stranger came in to the light of the moon. Marshall Lee smiled and leaned against the door frame of the balcony. "Hey, Gummy." He said with his usual smirk.
"What do you want, Marshall Lee?" I replied sternly. I was already irritated by the fact Fionna was late and now he had to be here? I really disliked him at some points. He was so stubborn and always getting into trouble, or was terrorizing the poor candy people. What an asshole, he was.
Though, I couldn't help but like him as well. As bad as it may sound, the entire "bad boy" act he puts on really draws me in. The Candy Prince to have feelings for the Vampire King? It sounded like one of the taboo love stories from a children's book. So cliche.
Marshall pushed himself off of the wall and drove himself into the air. I watched with caution as he flipped into the sky and hung over my head upside down. "What?," he snicked while giving me an upside down smile, "too good for company now? Or are you just too good for /my/ company?" He chuckled, which sent tiny, excited chills down my spine. I cleared my throat and stuck my nose in the air, trying to play off at least some confidence. "I never said that. Even though you are a total jerk at times. I was actually expecting Fionna." With that said, I looked up at him and noticed a bit of hurt in his reaction which.. confused me a little.
"Sorry to disappoint you- your majesty," he sarcastically whispered, attempting not to show any sign of pain. He closed his eyes and hovered back towards the entrance of the balcony, turning to face himself up right once more. "anyways.. Fi was really booked on trying to get the party started and had to babysit it. So, she sent me to 'escort' you instead." He finger motioned quotation marks around 'escort' and crossed his arms.I sighed, slightly even more annoyed by the decision that Fionna had chosen, but understood. "I'm assuming you were invited to the party as well?" Marshall looked at me, his demonic eyes burning through mine. "Yeah, why wouldn't I be?"
He had a point. Marshall and Fionna were great friends. So close, that it wouldn't really surprise me if she had feelings for him too. A burst of jealousy rumbled through my stomach and I began to play with my fingers. Marshall strolled over to me, his eyes running up and down my body. He snickered softly and raised a brow, "Gumball. You're seriously wearing that?"
"I-..it's really all I have..." I stuttered awkwardly, peaking down at my formal clothes. He automatically rolled his eyes and darted to my closet through the air. He opened the large double-door wardrobe and began rampaging through it. I watched as the vampire dug through all of the hangers while getting annoyed. In fact, it made me giggle. He crossed his arms and placed a hand on his chin in thought. Then, snapped his fingers and tugged out a short sleeved, button-up silk shirt and tossed it at me. Along with a pair of skinny jeans that were a bit darker and spotted with white bleached stains. He finally tossed my converse at me with a toothy grin on his face. "Try these."
I shrugged, not bothering to argue with him. I went to the bathroom, threw the outfit he suggested on and checked myself out in the mirror. Honestly, I looked radical. Not exactly used to being out of the formal clothing but, at least this was in my taste of casual style mixed in with formal. I enjoyed it and smiled at myself in the mirror.
Though, my hair didn't exactly fit the new picture so well. I sat my crown on to the sink counter and dug a comb from the cabinet drawer. I began to brush my hair to the front like Marshall's, except my hair was shorter. My fingers searched for the handle of a drawer and I tugged out a beanie from inside, slid it onto my head, gave myself a nod of confidence inside the mirror again. Then, slid out of the bathroom.

'He takes forever just to slide on some clothes. He was seriously going to wear his prince outfit to Fi's party? Glob.. he's such a wad...'
I stood silently, leaning my shoulder against the bed rail as I waited for Gumball to return. I tried to play the typical 'cool guy' act, as he called it. I never really understood why he hated me so much. I've never tried any of my pranks on him. Sure, I was intimidating towards him, but he torments me constantly by his slightly snobby, sarcastic insults. Hell, why do I care? I'm the Vampire King. I outrank him. I don't have to take his sass as much as I do. But I do. If I don't have to, then why do I..? I slid my hand through my usual messy, black hair and sighed. Confused by my own throughts. Great. Sometimes , I just think much in to this junk..'
Gumball stepped out of the bathroom finally, brushing off his shirt and jeans. He looked up at me through his pink swayed bangs and smiled softly, a light blush forming along his face. I pushed off the bed rail, surprised by his new appearance. Hovering over to him slowly, I took his look in fully. I could feel heat start to form in my cheeks, causing me to look away and snicker softly. After the flush feeling was gone, I turned to him and met his gaze. "Woah.. Gummy," I hissed playfully with a grin that revealed my canines, "you actually look pretty hot for a pansy." He flushed deeply and stuck his nose in the air. Typical Gumball. "I am not a pansy.. but thank you.."
As he grumbled the thank you, I smiled warmly at him, dropping to my feet. He watched me with his soft purple eyes in curiosity as I took his hands in to mine. I'm going to do it now... I inhaled sharply, I'm going to tell him how I feel.. "Gumball.." I began, but glanced at the wall clock behind him. We're late for Fi's party. "We've got to go!" I hissed and scooted him into my arms in cradle position, beginning to carry him in a hurry out of the room from the balcony. He clinged to my chest in fear. "Don't drop me, Marshall!" He screamed as he nuzzled his face in to my shirt, sending my dead heart into a flutter. I tried to resist peaking down at him, but couldn't.
I won't.. Bubba.. I'll never let you go again..
