Endless Love ("Neiko")

Naomi sat in the waiting room impatiently for about two hours, waiting for someone, anyone, to tell her Seiko was okay. That's all Naomi wanted to hear; that Seiko was going to be okay.

Naomi saw a doctor walk in and head to where she was currently sitting.

"Are you the young woman who came in with Seiko Shinohara?"

"Y-Yes. Is she going to be okay?"

The young man hesitated for a moment, before beginning to speak, "Seiko currently has a concussion. She also has two broken ribs. We've put her in the ICU." He took a deep breath before speaking again, "Seiko's in a coma. She should be able to get better. We just need her to wake up."

Naomi was now standing in front of the male, wide-eyed.

Naomi's voice cracked as she asked the doctor a question, "H-How long will she be in a coma...?"

The doctor responded calmly, "It's hard to say, Miss. It could be hours, days, weeks, or even months before she wakes up. I'm sorry, but we can take you to see her if you'd like."

Naomi nodded. The doctor started walking towards Seiko's room as Naomi trailed quietly behind.

Naomi seemed calm, but was emotionally unstable on the inside. She had no idea what to expect once she walked into the room.

The doctor stood outside a door and motioned for Naomi to walk inside. Naomi closed her eyes and took a deep breath before opening the door and walking inside.

The door closed quietly behind Naomi. She turned to see Seiko lying in the bed with bandages wrapped around her head and her entire torso. It broke Naomi's heart to see her like that.

Naomi walked quietly to the chair placed next to Seiko's bed and took a seat. She leaned closer to grab Seiko's hand, and held it soflty in her own. Naomi's eyes brimmed with tears.

"Seiko..." She said, before dropping her head on Seiko's bed, sobbing.

Two days have passed since Naomi first got to the hospital with Seiko. Her mother had come by to drop off clothes for her daughter. Naomi hadn't left the hopsital and only left Seiko's room to get food or when the doctors needed to run tests. She stayed with Seiko for the entire time she had been there.

Naomi was quietly reading a book when she heard a soft knock at the door. Naomi looked up to see Seiko's doctor walk through the door.

"I'm sorry to intrude, Miss, but I have some good news."

Naomi put her book down and listened to what he had to say.

"We've run tests and I can tell you that Seiko is getting better. Her broken bones are slowly healing and she shows no signs of internal bleeding. We've also determined that Seiko may be able to hear you while she's in this state." He motioned to Seiko, "I know it may seem wierd, but you can talk to her if you'd like. She can hear everything you have to say." He smiled softly at Naomi.

Naomi smiled back at him, "Thank you for the news."

"No problem. I'll come back if anything comes up." He waved his hand and left the room, leaving Naomi to her thoughts.

She can hear me, huh?

Naomi looked over to Seiko and smiled. She had an idea.

Naomi got up and leaned towards Seiko to kiss her forehead.

"I'll be back soon, Seiko."

Naomi walked out of Seiko's room and pulled out her phone. She called her mother.
