THE BEGINNING

'F*ck'

I remember hearing mommy scream that word into the phone. What does it mean?. I played with my toy Barbies' with the toy dream house. I may just be five years old, but from my experience of life so far, I want everything to stay the way it is. Just me. Mommy. My new word. I'll call it... 'hmm' I thought, 'what will I call it? Maybe 'the f word'. And Daddy. I enjoyed mommy's company. Besides, who would want another sister or brother? Not me for sure. I like things the way they are. I get all the attention and toys in the whole WIDE WORLD! This is what I call 'life'.

'Amelia sweetie' mommy called out. She IS the nicest person you'll ever meet. She buys me lots of toys and best of all, she makes AMAZING pizza. 'Can you come down here please, we have a surprise for you'. A surprise! It's probably a new toy. Or even McDonalds! I placed my Barbie and my Ken doll down on my dresser. 'Don't move' I scowled at them while running down the stairs. I couldn't wait to see the surprise. I jumped off the last three stairs, thinking I was some sort of ninja and landed on my knees painfully. It hurt a lot, but not as much as stubbing your toe off of a door frame. I was too focused on the surprise, I sucked up the pain and ran into the kitchen. I grabbed onto the door frame to stop me from falling onto the floor. I looked around. No dollhouse. No new Barbies. Nothing. Just my mom and dad sitting down on the chairs smiling.

'So', I said with so much disappointment, 'where is my new dollhouse or Barbie?' They both looked confused. 'What doll house?' They said it at the same time which was a bit creepy to me. I started to believe there actually wasn't a dollhouse or anything. 'You said there was a surprise for me?' I replied. At this point we were all confused. This was my shot. My chance to use my new word. It's now or never. 'f*ck'. The room was quite. 'Oh no' I thought. I think it's a bad word. Mommy looked angry. She looked like Red Bull. But without the magic. 'Don't say that word again sweetheart' mommy said with the fakest calm face ever to be see. I looked down at the floor with sadness. 'Stupid word. Stupid word' 'Anyways' dad said interrupting the silence, 'we have got a surprise for you and we think you'll be happy'. Seriously? I thought all surprises supposed to make you happy? There was another long silence. This was beginning to become awkward. I decided to break the silence also and asked with a fake smile, 'what is it?'  They both gave a grin to each other. It was unusually creepy. Actually, I take that back. It was really weird.
They glanced back at me and with a really loud and happy expression said to me, 'the surprise is'...
