power

Human nature likes to take pride in itself, and we think we are strong, powerful and mighty.

We feel when we make money or do something great  that we are mighth and invincible and powerful. The bible says otherwise.

Psalms 146:3-4 NLT

Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them.

Psalms 103:14 NLT

For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust.

Isaiah 2:22 NLT

Don’t put your trust in mere humans. They are as frail as breath. What good are they?

Humans are the weak and frail. Next to God and the eternal angels we are like dust, because honestly God created us from the dust.

Moses reminded the people "remember that it is the Lord who gives you strength to go out and make wealth"  also Jesus himself said "apartment from me you can do nothing"

God has true power. God created the heavens and the earth with his voice. God established the laws of time and space and gravity and physics and set them in place and there's not a man alive that can break them.   The bible tells us that  power BELONGS to the Lord. It's his and his alone. (Read job 12:13) and he gives people power (prov 8:14)

But humans are not the only creatures God created. He also created angels, and by nature being purely spirit brings are more powerful than man.

2 Peter 2:11 NLT

But the angels, who are far greater in power and strength, do not dare to bring from the Lord a charge of blasphemy against those supernatural beings.

To hear someone say that satan has no power, or that we as humans Give him power would be to contradict the bible.

Satan is called the Prince of the air and the god of this world. (Eph 2:2  and 2nd Corinthians 4:4) James says he is a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. He has the ability to bring torment,  death, destruction, sickness, division, confusion and more.

However he is limited in what he can do TO GODS PEOPLE

Job 1:12 NIV

The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.” Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord .

We see that Satan wanted to harm job, and God allowed  it to happen, but only because he knew that job would remain faithful to him and he would come out of his suffering stronger than he was before.

Satan knows he could not go against God's power, so he needed permission to attack job, even though he had more power than him. If job had not been God's servant Satan would not need his permission to torment him.

We are weak, feeble and powerless and we face  an enemy with the ability to destroy us with a single blow, what can we do to defend ourselves against him and his demons?

The answer is simple. We cannot. We  are helpless against a supernatural being, and while God created the earth for humans, by our sin and disobedience we allowed Satan to take it over.

But then came Jesus. He was born a virgin, lived a sinless life, died a criminals death and rose from the dead to give us life eternal and the power of his holy spirit Luke 10:19 NIV

I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.

He gave us power against the forces of Satan, to overpower him by his spirit.

But like Spidermans uncle Ben always said "with great power comes great responsibility"

Acts 1:8 NIV

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

He gave us power to tell people about him, not to be silent but to preach his name, it's not just the pastors job or the church workers job is every Christians job to save people from the enemy.  If your a Christian and you think "I'm not strong enough, smart enough or spiritual enough" here's something to think about

2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

Ephesians 6 tells us to wear the armor of God, which basicly boils down to knowing the bible and believing it. But that's another subject.
