"Silas..." She whispered quietly, pulling a string of her dark chocolate brown hair, coming down just past her shoulders.
The boy looked at her.
"Yeah? What is it?" He asked, turning to face her, laying his gray blue eyes on the girl, taking in every feature. Her beautiful brown eyes that shone brighter than the sun, her small, light brown freckles dotting her petite and pale face. He knew he was going to miss everything about her. He had grown to like this girl.
He couldn't suppress it. He couldn't forget her. He had to remember.
"Promise me you won't forget, promise me..." She choked out, using the back of her hand to wipe away the shiny tears blooming in the corners of her eyes. Those eyes...
He shook his head.
No, Silas...
Silas nodded solemnly, forcing a smile across his face. "I promise..." He told her, his voice cracking. Of all times, why did this have to happen now.
The girl blinked, a bright smile that he knew, that he loved, spread across her face. "You know...you're not as bad as I originally thought. You were a jerk...but I've learnt...that even jerks can be the most amazing people on this earth." She told him.
Silas raised his arm shakily, using his thumb to wipe away the tears that continued to fall from her eyes. "Stop that...you're gonna be alright." He told her again.
The girl sobbed silently. "I know...I just-"
She was cut short by Silas dragging her in tightly, curling his arms tightly and protectively around her small body, rubbing her back gently."Shhh...I know, I know. I promise I'll always be here for you...Alena..." He whispered in her ear softly.
Alena lifted her head. "Thank you..." She said, pulling free from his grip. He comforted her. He made her feel safe. And now she was going to lose it all in a flash.
She stood up, holding his gaze once more.
"I'll see you soon then, right?" She asked him, raising her eyebrows, waiting for his answer. She knew she was trying to force herself that everything would be alright but she knew deep down that she was telling herself a big, solid lie.Silas nodded, a small, meek smile snaking its way onto his face.
Alena smiled back. "Goodbye, Silas." She whispered She then turned away from him, disappearing where he could never see her again. He knew that. But he didn't want to believe it. It couldn't be true.
Silas hung his head. "I promise...Always."
