Kris made his solo debut on the 14th February, 2015.
On the 15th May, 2014, Kris filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment asking for the termination of his contract. He said that the way the company was mistreating their artists gave him serious health issues. He also mentioned that when he was diagnosed with myocarditis, the company did nothing about it and he lost trust in the company, which eventully lead to his decision to leave.
On the 30th July, 2015, SM Entertainment filed a lawsuit against Kris and the Chinese companies that were working with him. On the 31st July, 2016, SM Entertainment and Kris announced that they reached a settlement. He could still promote as a solo artist, but he will be under SM's management in only South Korea and Japan (SM Entertainment will only get a share of his income until his contract ends).
Kris made his solo debut in November 2015.
