"What's the point of being a wizard if we're not gonna make use of magic," Draco complained with a condescending tone as he grabbed a pile of dead dung beetles into the sack. "If only father will hear about this."

Crabbe laughed, filling the dry air surrounding them. "Your father will surely hear about this in no time. Me mum sent me a howler just this morning."

Draco then glanced at Sam. Sam scowled back at him as she scooped the dead dung beetles into her own sack.

As part of their month-long detention, Professor Slughorn had assigned them in the greenhouses to collect dead dung beetles from the fresh soil without using magic.

It was the middle of the day and the heat from the sun above was scorching hot. Sweat trickled down the back of Sam's neck. She wore her platinum hair in a ponytail.

The downside of this detention was Professor Slughorn got ahold of their class schedule. So he could practically decide when and what to do as their punishment.

Then Sam could hear Draco's scrunchy footsteps against the ground became louder. "You know I'm really sorry, Samantha."

Sam knew Draco meant it when he called her by her full first name. But Sam hadn't recovered yet from all the lies and betrayal and the hurt this was causing.

"I will take full responsibility of it," Draco continued talking, his voice rushed and stuttering. "Dad will never think it was your idea. He will just conclude that I dragged you into this."

"Because it's true! It was your clever idea!" Sam spat back angrily. Then her eyes squinted towards Hamish. "Why did you have to steal Amortentia anyway?!"

Hamish swallowed a lump in his throat as he stopped shoveling. His right eye was all black and swollen. Draco did that. Draco too had no idea what Hamish did. But that didn't make Sam forgive her brother.

Hamish looked absentmindedly from Goyle and then to Draco. When his mouth was about to open to speak, Sam then raised her hand, stopping him.

"Whatever. What's done is done," Sam said, scowling, as she continued searching for dead insects.

They must have asked for a lot of forgiveness already from Sam but Sam was already becoming deaf towards them.

In fact, Sam wasn't just angry at Draco, Hamish, Crabbe and Goyle. She was also mad at Hermione for believing such rumors.

How could she after all they've been through? Sam thought.

Sam tried to convince herself that maybe, just maybe, Hermione wasn't just glad about the whole thievery. That Hermione just thought Sam was just a mischievous person, less the love potion stuff.

Thinking about it made Sam more depressed too. Because it would only mean that Hermione had doubts on the love she had for Sam.

Sam tried to give Hermione some space in order for her to realize that she was stupid enough to think even just a single bit that she was only used.

They haven't talked after all those hurtful things Hermione said in the library.

One thing stuck in Sam's head. And this thing had made her feel more alone. Sam had never experienced being bullied before. Hermione ignoring her only made the rumors convincing, that Sam really had help from magic to get Hermione to love her.

During Defense Against the Dark Arts class that afternoon, no one wanted to sit with Samantha. She couldn't blame them to be honest. There were only four Slytherin students in the class, including her.

Sam decided to sit on the last row. Then she noticed Rose stood up from her seat and sat beside Sam, carrying her things with her.

Sam became suddenly uncomfortable. They hadn't spoken to each other ever since Hermione and Sam started dating.
