"I wish I'd never met him," you sniffled into Vans chest where you sat cuddled into him on his settee whilst he ran his fingers through your hair and tried to sooth you.

Hed closed his front door behind him and come straight to you, picked you up off his kitchen floor and forgotten about that brew. Knew that you wouldn't drink anything until you'd cried your heart out to him about his best friend once again.

"I wish I'd never fuckin introduced you," he smirked leaning back into the sofa, head to the cieling before he brought it back down to place a kiss in your hair. "I knew this would happen before you'd even said hello you know, you're exactly the kind of girl he should be with and he's exactly the kind of lad you'd like..."

"Well I don't like him anymore," you mumbled your stubborn side leaking through though it only drew an endeared smile from Van who knew you were lying to both him and yourself.

"You do love," i said softly, "I know you do,"

"Then I don't like myself either," you wiped at your tears about to try and calm down, force a smile, ask about that brew, but when he brushed your tears from your cheeks with his thumbs and pulled you back into his embrace.

"Don't say that love, theres nothin wrong with you," he said softly, thumb stroking your bare shoulder.

"Yes," you sobbed a little harder than before, shivering with your crying, breaking Vans heart a little, "there is," you sniffled, struggled to get your words out between sobs and sniffles. "Why can't i like lads like you?"

"I wish you liked lads like me," he laughed, cheeky smile lighting up the two of you temporarily because you both knew that would never happen, "Id stop havin to worry about you then wouldn't I,"

"Youd know they were dead soft," you smirked, biting back a laugh as he let out another chuckle.

"Aye exactly, Id know they were gonna dote on you," he grinned shaking his head, "Bonds would dote on you though love, hes worse than me really you know..." he said with a smirk, "just this situation like, its a bit fucked up isnt it,"

"No ones worse than you," you sniffled, rubbing your eyes with your sleeves, smiling as you nuzzled back into him and he held you close.

You'd known Van a long time, since you were both in school though he'd been a good few years older than you.
Really it was Bob that you'd known well. It was Bob who had invited you to your first Catfish gig. But it was Van who had taken a shine to you, Van who had taken you under his wing. Fisrt in highschool and then later, when you'd left your family behind and moved up north on some identity crisis whim. You'd been living alone and one day he'd realised you lived in the same postcode. He'd practically forced his friendship upon you and now he was one of your favourite people. He'd said you had always been one of his.

"I know one person," he teased, leaning in to your ear, making you smile before he'd said the word, "you."

You shrugged him off, bit back your laugh unable to hide how much better he made you feel. How little he had to try to make you feel better.

"You wanna stay a coupla days darlin?" he asked a little while later as he finally started on that brew, "me and Larry were gonna have a star wars marathon tomorrow, get the beers in,"

"Do i want to lounge around in my pants all weekend watchin nerd films with you and Larry?" you raised your brow but the smile which twinkled on you gave him your answer without you really having to say anything at all.

And so thats how you spent your weekend. Lounging around in Vans tshirts and boxers with the boys, watching star wars and slowly getting stoned. Getting silly drunk with them in the evening, demanding Van serenade you with stupid songs you used to sing when you were young.
