It's Friday, so that means it's my last day at Richmond High. After I do my morning routine, I grab an apple and head to my last ride with Mr. Smith.
'How do you feel, Rose?' he asks me.
'I am not that sad that I am leaving actually. '
'Is that because of your plan of becoming a better person? And the fact that you won't have to pretend anymore that you are rich?'
'Maybe. But mainly because I don't leave that much behind. If there is anything this school taught me is to be careful with the people you surround yourself with.'
And that's true. In my freshman year, I was surrounded by people, and I went to all the big parties. That's how I met Kris. But she's the only one that remained beside me till now. As I get out of the car, I see Bella getting out of her brother's car. I wait for her to say her goodbyes and ask her what class she has.
'I have English, so we can go together if you want.' She responds.
'Yeah, let's go.'
When we arrive at the lockers, I spot Kris with one of her friends.' Hey Kris-' I start to say when I hear her say: I'm glad she leaves. There is no place for poor people like her in this school. What if she stole from my house? I always knew she envies my popularity and the money I have. I guess it's bye-bye Rosey- Pooorsey'
My mind goes blank, my fists are clenched, and I'm ready to scream because I know she is talking about me. As I prepare to say something, I feel my arm being pulled by Bella:
'Calm down, and let's go to the coffee shop.'
'But English starts in 10-' I try to say through gritted teeth.
'If we would go to class, I think you would rip that girl's head.'
'Fine. Is my last day here anyway.' I say the last part of my mind. After we arrive at the coffee shop, I order two milk coffee and pay.
'You didn't have to.' Bella says, frowning. I know what you think, I did it to prove I am a nice person, but that's the least I could do for her for saving me from a fight.
'So do you want to tell me what happened out there?'
' Besides the fact that I just heard my supposedly best friend talking shit about me, nothing.' From all the people in this school, she had to be the one who back-stabbed me. She knows how hard it's for me to trust people. Frick, it took me months to tell her something about me. I am so lost in my mind that I forget Bella was here too.
'Is it true that you are leaving ?' she asks me. Well, it doesn't matter if another person knows. I bet everyone at school knows already because of a certain someone.
'Yeah, this is my last day here. Next week I'll start classes at a new high school.'
'Well, if this is your last day here, let's make it memorable.'
She says, grinning from ear to ear. Oh Lord, what have I gotten myself into?
'Is your car here?' she asks me, 'Yes, Mr. Smith left her here because I had to go out with Kris after school.'
'Not anymore. Grab your coffee, and let's go.' Bella says while walking out of the coffee shop.'
'Wait, Bella! I don't want you to skip school because of me. And honestly, I don't want my parents to find out I have skipped either.'
'Fine, but after we finish our classes, you and I are going to hang out together.' she says while wrapping her arm around me. I forgot how clingy she is. I don't mind it though. I appreciate that she tries to avoid the subject. I decided I'm not going to let Kris know about earlier. Karma is a bitch, after all.
Because we skipped English, I now head to Science. I spend all the time in class analyzing if all the memories I made with Kris were fake. She always seemed to enjoy my company. The rest of the day goes without any troubles, and I try to avoid Kristin as much as possible. As I wait for Bella in my car, Kris is already waiting for me there. My face falls, and she notices. Her smile fades as well, and I try to regain my composure
.'Is everything fine?' she asks.
'Yeah.' Bitch. Keep your calm, keep your calm Rose.No. Don't do it, Rose, don't punch her. Happy thoughts. 'I forgot I promised Bella that I'm going to spend the day with her.'
'Oh please, you are not choosing her over me, are you? It's your last day in this area.'
'Oh, you mean it's my last time in this rich area? So I should enjoy it while it lasts? I say, fuming. I was ready to fight this snake.
'What's with this attitude? I was just saying-'
'Rose, let's go.' I hear Bella saying. I get on the wheel and drive right past Kris. The steering wheel feels odd in my palms, and after 5 minutes, I have to stop the car because we almost crashed five times. Bella looks terrified even after I stop the engine.
'I thought you had your driver's license!' She screams at me.
'I do. I'm not that good at driving. I'm so sorry,' I say in a small voice, feeling guilty that I put her life in danger.
' Just don't do it again. I don't have my permit, so I will call my brother to see if he can come to help us. I don't know if I'm ready to see Pretty boy again, but I don't comment. After a while, I see his car parking next to mine. His door opens, allowing me to see his toned body and beautiful face. 'Oh get over it already,' my conscience says.
