knock. knock. knock.
"hanako-san..hanako-san..are you there?"
the young [h/c] haired girl watched as the stall door opened. her skin was jumping, as she stared. the stall was empty, giving the girl a sigh of relief but also disappointment.
a hand touched her shoulder, and she jumped almost instantly. "behind you!"
she looked behind her as her back hit a pole. infront of her was a small..boy?
"wait..you're not a girl! why're you here? you arent h-hanako-san!"
she panicked.
"oh! i'm the seventh of the school's seven mysteries!" he smiled "hanako-san of the toilet. pleased to meet you!"
you blushed at the smile. he was kind of cute.
"but..thats impossi-"
he got up close to you, squeezing your cheeks. "oh, that stuffs outdated. you can call me hanako-kun if you'd like!"
"erm..alright..i wont question it..but.."
"you came here for a wish, huh?" he smiled, letting your face go. "what's your name?" you smiled putting out your hands in a wave. "[l/n], [l/n] [y/n]!"
you tilted your head and nodded, putting your hands behind your back. "well, what is it?" you jumped back in surprise after his nose hitting yours.
"my wish..my wish is.."
she looked down, playing with her fingers.
"t-to have a lover..!"
he shuffled backwards, dropping a bag. curiously, you picked it up and found a silver..coin? it looked.
"what's this, hanako-kun?"
realizing he dropped it, he tried to get you to put it down.
you were startled and bonked your head on the pole behind you, and the coin flipped upwards and landed in your mouth, and you swallowed in result.
crouching down, you put your hands over your head. "owowow.." you chanted.
"hey! i told you not to swallow it!" he taunted.
you got up, a small water pricking at your eye. "i-i'm sorry, hanako-kun.."
he looked at your eyes in guilt. "sorry, i overreacted. it was an accident." he squished your puffy cheeks, red staining them. "i-it's fine..!" you said.
he smiled softly at you, but the moment had been ruined.
slowly, you realized pale [f/c] scales had been covering your body.
"h-huh?! w-whats happening! hanako-kun?"
you panicked as your body gave out.
"got you!"
you looked up. water? a classroom?
"any later, you would've dried up!"
he smiled at you.
"wait..what happened?"
he turned on his foot and the container you were in splashed around. then, in the mirror, you saw.
"i-i'm a fish!?!"
he sighed, setting you down.
"before i could get that scale back, i wasn't able to tell you why you shouldn't swallow it."
you looked at him surprised. "t-that was a scale? ..ew.."
"it's a mermaid curse." he sat down on the top of the chair infront of you. "the scale is called a matchmaker curse, because it bounds two people together, but if only one ingests it, it will become a mermaids servant."
you looked down in a worry.
"such foolish creatures.."
you looked in a panic. "w-what..?!"
"so you're finally here." hanako floated closer to you, in a protective way.
"little girl, be happy..you will be my servant."
suddenly, a monster appearance came. a fish with a way too human face.
you screamed in your mind in a surprise.
"you're in the way. move, brat."
the mermaid got closer, but hanako didn't budge. the mermaid pushed him with amazing force away.
"hngh!" he grunted. "hanako-kun!" you yelled, in a scared tone, and a worried tone.
"i haven't granted that girl's wish..you won't take her."
"silence! you will not order me around." hanako-kun smiled. "looks like..i'll have to resort to violence."
he quickly bolted at the mermaid, and slashed her. she had disappeared.
"waah! she's dead!!" you screamed.
in the chaos, your container flew upwards, along with some other things. hanako quickly caught you.
"now that that's over, though he'll probably be coming back.." he started, setting you down. "you aren't gonna get outta this by being a crybaby." you puffed out your now nonexistent cheeks.
"you got involved with us, supernatural, so now your stuck with us."
"about that wish.." he smiled in a friendly way, you looking at him with awe. "you do wanna be human again, ...right?"
you nodded quickly. "y-yeah! please do it, hanako-kun!"
he put the remaining scale on his tongue. "looks like..
i'll have to be that little boyfriend of yours! then you can pay me back..with your body."
swallowing it, the desk fell over and the container landed on your head as hanako wipped it off.
he pulled you up, your hands interlocked in his.
"are you happy now, [l/n]-chan?"
