Chapter Seven

We. Are. Family.

"Rylee sweetheart, I layed out a very nice dress for you for the dinner tonight." Lillan smiled sweetly and I nodded, "Thank you." I smiled back as I made my way upstairs. Curtis passed by me on the stairs, but I ignored him continuing to make my way up. When I got to my room, layed out on my bed was a navy blue dress and I approached it, bemused and dreadful. I haven't worn a dress since... About 15 years ago and my mom forced me to wear it. I reached the dress and touched the soft, silky material. The dress' straps were thickly braided with another silky, sparkly, white material. They were made to hang off your shoulders, I believe, because the straps were a little longer than normal. The dress went from dark, concentrated navy blue at the top, to more faded blue, almost white at the bottom, which went really well with the white in the straps. Well, nothing wrong with trying it on, it is for me afterall. I slid off my bathrobe and slid on the dress. I felt a little awkward, I must admit. I felt like a piece of crap in a really pretty bag. Like I didn't belong in it. Nonetheless, I twirled around in it and giggled at the flowy bottom that fanned out while I spun... I actually felt like a little girl again. I twirled over to the mirror and stopped to look at myself. The dress had a built in bra which made whatever I had of a chest look pretty damn good... Not to sound conceited but I did feel kinda pretty. The dress clung to my upper body then gradually flowed out, accentuating whatever I had of curves. Lillian really picked the right dress. The back of the dress was cut low... Dangerously low... But, I'd have to deal for tonight. Lillian also knew that I couldn't walk in heels if my life depended on it, so she got me some cute navy blue flats. I looked at my hair and sighed. My hair always looks like a guys hair. It clashes with the dress. I got some products from the bathroom and combed them through my damp hair and scrunched it up a bit and shrugged. "Whatever..." I sighed and looked at the make up that layed beside the dress. I can't put on make up! I intercomed Jenna. "Jenna, I need your assistance." I muttered into the speaker and pressed the button so I could hear her. "I'll be right up, Miss." she chuckled, she also seemed to have forgotten to call me Rylee. I plopped back on my bed. I hope I don't end up looking stupid.

When I walked downstairs, Curtis' parents smiled and I returned it. "You look gorgeous, absolutly gorgeous." Curtis looked at me and his eyes lingered on me and then looked away, uninterested. What an a**. He looked good though, of course I wasn't going to show that. He was wearing a black suit and a navy blue tie and he took out his piercings for tonight and you couldn't even see the holes. Curtis' parents got into one lime and we got into the other. Tonight, we were going to a dinner to meet some of Curtis' family and discuss wedding plans. So I was bursting at the seams with joy and Curtis was probably feeling the same. It was utter silence in the limo and I asked the driver, "Where are we going for dinner tonight?". "Hell." Curtis muttered. "Really, I was under the impression we were already there, honey." I sneered and the driver raised the seperating thing and I heard muffled laughter. "He thinks I'm funny." I smirked and twisted a soft piece of hair around my finger. "Well, good for you." he sighed looking out the window and his hair was covering his face. In the vomer of my eye I saw a bottle of champagne and uncorked it hitting Curtis in the side and I sucked up all the bubbles so they wouldn't spill. It also helped me not laugh. He turned slowly to me and frowned. "What the fuck was that?" he asked, holding his side. I hid the bottle, "Your imagination." I sighed and he scoffed, "Yeah, that or the cork of the champagne bottle you're failing at hiding.", he smirked and I rolled my eyes pulled it out and tilted it towards him. "Cheers, mate!" I exclaimed mocking his accent and taking a big gulp. "Oh, well that's charming, get smashed before you meet my family, that's just great." he sighed and I handed the bottle to him. "You look like you need it mor ethan me." I chuckled and he snatched it away taking big sips from the bottle and wiping his mouth and handing it back. "Really? You're giving it back to an alchoolic?" I asked raising an eyebrow. "I wouldn't give it back if I cared, but I don't." I pulled the bottle away and gulped the rest down, letting it drop to the floor. "So, is the rest of your family a bunch of d*cks or is it just you?" I asked and he gave me a fake smile, "It's just me.", "Thank god! Then we should all get along just fine." I sighed and we arrived at the restaurant. The driver came back and opened the door for me and I thanked him with a big smile. Curtis locked his arm around mine and I looked up at him in hatred. "They have to think we somewhat get along." he mumbled and I rolled my eyes and jerked him forward as I made my way towards the door. When I walked in the colors were warm and there were gold accents everywhere. The ceiling were high and there was... No one there except a waitor. "Where is everyone?" I asked Lilian and she smiled. "We rented the place out. We hate when there's too much noise. Our family is on the balcony in the back. They're going to love you." I hope so. The waitor led us up a winding staircase to glass double doors were I could see about 10 people already sitting and laughing. I held my breath and walked in and everybody stopped and stared at me. "Hi..." I smiled nervously and everyone got up and mobbed me.
