Alina

"Oh and Alina? I'll banish you soon enough." She smiled again.

Her smiles were creepy and not genuine at all. I didn't understand her behaviour. Even though I've had known her since we were little, I still could not tell what was going on inside that brain of hers, which knew nothing rather than conspiracy.

One moment she was all cheerful and nice and in a split of the second, there was a change in her mood. It confused me and never allowed me to analyse or even understand her character. It was ironic how we never got along. Even after spending so many years together, living in the same pack as a family never subsided her hatred for me.

I never understood the reason behind her hatred towards me. I thought it would go away as time went by, but no. Instead of the hatred vanishing, it only intensified. And here she was sitting on my bed threatening to banish me from my own pack.

"I never knew you had problems with your hearing as well." She spat looking annoyed.

I rolled my eyes at her.

Shouldn't it be me acting all pissed and grumpy?

"Can you just leave?" I asked calmly.

"What did you say?" She asked frantically placing one of her palms near her ear.

"I asked you to leave," I said louder than before.

"How dare you!?" She snapped, "You have no right to talk to me like this."

"Leave," I said pointing at the door.

"I'll make your life hell, trust me. You only have a week before you are thrown out of this pack house, My Pack." She continued her rant.

"Look, I don't give a shit about you or your words. Now can you please just leave!?" I raised my voice. It came out louder than I thought it would.

"You're a bitch." She cursed, "Maybe this is the main reason why you didn't find your mate."

That was the point where something inside of me just snapped. My wolf was already angry and the sudden mention of my mate only made it worse.

"I'll rip your throat off if you utter a single word." My wolf growled taking over.

It was the first time my wolf took over and responded to something. I was shocked. It was unexpected and unheard of. I hadn't shifted yet and for my wolf to take over and respond was not normal.

"H-how?" Stacy flinched at the sound of authority.

Even I didn't know the answer to it myself.

"How dare you?" A voice snapped me back from my trance of thought to see Andrew standing at the door, his eyes bloodshot red.

"How dare you talk to my mate like that!?" He repeated walking towards me.

"Let me explain–"

"Explain? What is there to explain? You have no right to talk to my mate like that. Don't forget she's your future Luna." He growled.

I stood there speechless, staring at my brother who just refrained himself from physically hurting me.

Why is he behaving like this? I asked my wolf.

It's his wolf talking, not him. — My wolf answered my question.

"Andrew, let me explain–"

"Shut up! And you listen to me, Stacy is my mate. I don't care whether you're my sister or not, you need to respect her. And if not then you'll face some serious consequences." He warned, not allowing me a single chance to speak.

That didn't even make any sense. He didn't have the right to snap at me without even knowing the entire situation.

He turned towards Stacy who was shedding her crocodile tears and embraced her into a tight hug.

"Shh! Don't worry." He cooed wiping her tears and guiding her out of the room.

Andrew, my own brother, made me feel like I was the main villain.

James

I stood outside gazing at the now-empty building. I looked around the entire premises in search of Alina and was disenchanted soon enough. She wasn't there.

"Are you planning to stay here your entire life?" Drake asked from behind.

"No. I was just—" I trailed off not knowing whether to confess or not.

"Looking for Alina?" He completed my sentence.

"Yeah," I admitted looking at the floor. I felt ashamed for a second.

"Remember I told you not to take everything lightly, and that you would regret if you don't listen to me." He reminded me.

"Are you here to say 'I told you so'?" I narrowed my eyes at him.

"No. I am just here to take you home." He stated calmly.

"Fine." I huffed and agreed.

"Good." He smiled and walked forward towards his car. He must have driven the car inside the premises.

I followed behind and watched him hop inside the driver's seat. I stood there, outside the car gripping the handle of the door.

"What are you waiting for?" Drake asked sliding the window down.

"Nothing." I opened the door and got inside.

He started the engine and soon drove down the road.

There were a few minutes of silence. Neither of us spoke as we sat there letting the silence slowly devour us.

"You can tell me if something is bothering you," Drake said breaking the silence.

"Honestly, I don't know. I feel drained  lately."

"Is it because of the rejection?" He asked.

"I don't know. It's — I feel anxious. I never felt this way before." I answered truthfully.

I didn't know where all these drained emotions were coming from. I didn't feel this way before, why suddenly now? I didn't even know the reason behind my anxiousness. A part of me was longing to see Alina, while there was this other part of me that was angry due to being rejected. On top of that, I loved Hailey.

My emotions were all over the place.

"I think you're feeling Alina's emotions." He furrowed his eyebrows while looking at the road.

"Alina's emotions?" I frowned at him.

"Yes, mates tend to have this bond which allows them to feel each other's emotions." He explained.

If this was the mate bond which was allowing me to feel all this then I wonder what was exactly going on with Alina.

"How do you feel right now?" He asked looking at me.

"Drained as fuck!"

"Don't try to think so much about it or else it will affect your health." He stated. "What is your wolf saying about all this?"

"Nothing. He blocked me out totally."

"Blocked you out!?" He suddenly vociferated snapping his head towards me. He suddenly jerked the car to a halt in the corner.

"Do you know what that means?" He asked with a horror-struck expression on his face.

"Yes," I whispered, my voice barely audible.

"We need to figure something out soon if not then—" He trailed off.

"I'll lose my wolf." I completed the sentence for him.
