As soon as he yelled that word, we couldn't stop our feet from moving so furiously and relentlessly as we try to outrun those savage monsters.
"River, what are they!?" I asked him while running and panicking.
River responded quickly with a reply, "They're the gobbolds I was just referring to earlier! They're vile monsters who hunt anyone who dares to step on their territories. They may have very abysmal intellect but their instincts and fighting prowess are something you shouldn't underestimate regardless of how skilled you are in swordplay."
If one is dangerous, then imagine multiplying that by...one...two... half a hundred times?
"Don't worry though," says River, who doesn't seem to be acting sarcastic despite the current situation. "Gobbolds are known to hunt for treasures they had either stole, found, or looted from the body of their victims, and they hide many of these precious treasures in their hideouts. If the wonder drug we're searching for is really coloured in gold, then there's this great chance that we'll find one in their hideouts. I just know it!"
That's...some extreme stretch you got there, buddy. "But... But how will we... How will we find their hideout?" I asked as my breathing gets heavier and bigger.
"Good question!" River replied with a nervous smile.
Despite our cowardice, as we ran like some little sissy babies, we managed to outran these monsters out of pure luck. Then once the coast is clear of danger did we finally had the chance the catch our breaths.
River and I carelessly dropped our backs down to the soft soil of the ground, openly lying there as we inhale and exhale heavily.
"Now... Now what...?" I asked while still catching my breath with a widely opened mouth.
Again, River mysteriously smiled at me as she replies. "I... I think I have managed to pinpoint where their hideout is."
"What? How?" I tumbled myself around as I raise myself from the ground, my breathing still out of rhythm.
Before she could start explaining her strategy, her stomach rumbled loudly that it echoed throughout the forest. "Whoops. Ehehehe..." she chuckled again.
"Perhaps these are in order." River reached for his pockets and much to my joy...
"Here, the nuts we grabbed from the little korodrys. Let's make sure it never goes to waste to pay respect for that little korodrys, yeah? Plus these are really delish!" I mean, the korodrys technically died in vain because of us, but yeah. We'll just reason that we were blinded by hunger. River, at least.
