A dark blue Toyota pulls up to worn down building by the name of "Downtown Café". Otto and Awsten, the two in the car, hop out. Otto is dressed in a plain blue shirt with a jacket and black jeans. The outfit goes with his style, his longish wavy brown hair and silver nose ring in his left nostril, simple. Awsten is the complete opposite though, dressed in a colorful striped sweater, black ripped jeans, and star shaped sunglasses that are a shade of light purple placed on the top of his head. His hair matches his vibrant look, neon green and slightly in his face just covering his forehead.
After locking up the car, they walk inside to the building, both pleasantly surprised by the interior. The inside looks much nicer than the outside. The wall has a sign that reads "Thanks for Coming!" with tons of pictures of people. The only downside is a broken glass on the ground with red liquid spilling next to it, dripping to the back of the counter. Awsten and Otto take their seats at a small round table. A young waitress comes up, around 26, almost the same age as the two customers. She's fancily dressed in a flowing skirt and top, but she has a red splatter on her white button up, throwing off the outfit.
"Hello, my name's Mary and I'm your waitress for today. How may I help you?" She smiles and pulls out a small sheet of paper for orders.
"Just give us a minute." Awsten says, and then watches as she walks away. Awsten turns back to Otto with a worried look on his face. He whispers, "I don't like this place, it seems a bit off. I think we should find somewhere else to eat."
Otto shrugs, "I don't see anything really bad about it. It's fine, we're already here, let's just stay."
Awsten stares back at Otto. "They only sell bread, Otto. Bread!" He smacks his hands down on the table dramatically while yelling "Bread!".
Otto just raises his eyebrows and puts his hands up, "That is a bit weird, but it's fine, Awsten. Stop being so overdramatic."
"But I'm not!" Awsten yells back.
Mary walks back to the table. "May I show you to the back counter?"
Awsten yells back worried, "No! No, you may NOT!"
Otto just looks at Awsten and says, "Have you lost your mind?"
Mary glances at them, especially Awsten, and grins. "It would be my pleasure."
Awsten and Otto are led to the back of the counter. Both are a bit hesitant, but Awsten is extremely hesitant.
"No need to worry, boys. Stay silent and you won't get hurt." Mary says, still with the chaotic smile plastered across her face. Awsten mouths "Told you so" to Otto and Otto rolls his eyes. Once arriving to the back counter that's hidden from the rest of the café, Otto and Awsten are a bit confused.
"Why did you take us h-" Before Otto can finish, he's knocked out by a swing to his head from the owner, Matthew. Awsten yells in terror and runs as fast as he can to the open parts of the café, but is grabbed by Mary and dragged back by his feet.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?" Awsten yells as he's dragged back.
"You'll see, pretty boy." Mary says, this time not in her sweet tone, but rather in a sour one. Awsten is sat up against the wall roughly by Matthew when they get back to the spot they were in before. Mary grabs a couple pieces of rope and duct tape from the back counter while Matthew grabs a sharp, pointed knife from a utensil drawer. Before Awsten can fight back, a piece of duct tape is firmly pressed against his mouth and a rope is tied around his legs. Mary grabs another rope and ties it around Awsten's upper half of his body, being his arms and chest, making it so he is unable to move from his spot. Matthew walks away from Otto after tying him up, leaving his unconscious body sat up against the wall directly across from Awsten. Matthew walks towards Awsten holding the knife, looking more intimidating with the knife in hand than without. Matthew holds the knife up to Awsten's neck, whispering "Don't say a word."
Otto wakes up from his passing out and looks down, met with ropes around himself. He looks up and sees Awsten across from him, tears rolling down his face with a knife against his neck, dangerously close to stabbing.
"What's going on?" Otto says, terrified at the sight of his friend.
"We'll only let him go if you agree to help us." Matthew says, slightly turned around to face Otto.
"With what? Killing my friend? No!" Otto shouts back.
Mary chimes in, standing off to the side, "Not specifically your friend, but others. We need help covering our murders, the law enforcement has been getting suspicious lately. I mean, we need help even just committing them. So, we want you to join us. If not, that knife will go straight through your friend's throat with no hesitation." Awsten is staring at Otto, slightly shaking his head while hysterically crying.
"Only if you let him go." Otto says, looking back and forth at Mary and Awsten.
Mary smiles, "I promise."
"Then I agree." With just those words, Matthew uses the knife that was just at Awsten's throat to cut the ropes off Otto and Awsten.
Awsten gets up and runs out the back door, still crying and shaking intensely. Otto gets up from his spot, knowing exactly what he's about to do. He sneaks up behind Mary and Matthew, who are turned away, and tackles them to the ground. He throws a couple punches at both. In just a second, Matthew pushes him off and throws him to the ground. Otto doesn't have the strength to fight back, and Mary grabs the knife from the ground and hands it to Matthew from behind.
With one last scream, Otto's gone, or at least that's what they thought, from multiple deep stabs. Little did they know, Awsten had called the police while outside and they were coming in just minutes. This was the first time they were ever caught, and once the paramedics came Otto was rushed to the hospital while Mary and Matthew were locked up in the back of a police car.
Later that night, Otto was not found dead and had in fact survived but had many wounds. The story of Downtown Café was all over the news the next day, reporting of the story of two murderers.
