Just another clear monsoon day for Tokyo out for busy noises and calm breaks.
Not sure the reason, for a chance after a long brief period, it was the day when Akio truly wanted to give school his full day but at the same manner, a part of him was still stuck on the hope of meeting that lady once again. Once again her smile to be seen.
He even prepared a complete packed lunch from home for the first time, with a firm intention of lasting the entire day. Preparing a lunch only send him back when his mother used to teach him with pouring love and care, there was not much she left for him, cooking was among the few he only did whenever he wanted to feel her presence again."God, this is hard" he exclaimed to himself strolling over those same corridors and classes, but he had to give it a shot anyway. Maybe it is for the best that even the rain didn't touch the ground today.
Trying to focus over tedious lessons, time swift with no trace till lunch break arrived. Famished students clashed out from classes starving for the fun, the mischiefs, the laughs more than just food.
This time, Akio had his own lunch prepared. All he required was to wash off his hands.
He stood up and walked out of the class, no one to block his way, every students stays afraid of him. Just another usual reaction from others.
Passing down classes till now, he realized it was not half bad. Maybe he can survive school after all. Yes he can, a silent sparking confidence started arising from his heart. He could finally revive a calm school life after all, decided he during his way back. He crossed hallways and climbed staircase to reach his class.
Right when he was about to enter, his eyes noticed someone. A familiar face.
Daisuke, his closest friend but also a former mate. He was approaching this way, towards him. His smile disappeared somehow after looking should he call for him? or maybe it would just ruin his mood? his head spun with questions. He was passing away already, maybe he could just give a call. He restored courage and finally stepped forward. Grabbed his hand and called his name like old times "Hey, Daisuke".
He slapped Akio's hand away at once. "How dare you" he yelled out widening his eyes in nothing more than pure anger. Everyone else caught the scene.
Daisuke looked around at everyone watching. It enraged him from inside, "Leave me alone, criminal".
He couldn't dare to fight Akio, so he slowly walked off gritting his teeth feeling nothing but shame and disgust. Such a way to treat his former closest friend.
Akio stood firm, looking down, nothing could be more humiliating but wasn't it already expected as a part? Saying this he walked off. Everyone began gossiping again, he slowly returned to his class.
Anger was not something in his mind, maybe for a while he got so dissolved in this environment, what he really is distracted from his insight. A criminal, nothing else."Dammit! Akio. Dammit!" Daisuke unleashed all the anger stored within over kicking the terrace fence. He kept kicking with all his might cursing his former friend a thousand times but even he knew that with each blow and each cursing word they referred to himself as well till his energy gave up. He dropped on the floor leaning on the fence. That once unbreakable friendship had turned to nothing but bitter hate for him. Not even a second could be tolerate staying with Akio, that same guy who had his back for mostly every problems.
He looked up at the sky and the clouds were emerging again, dark gloomy threatening clouds which for him did only the work of annoying lives to every bit.Akio escaped yet again, not from any dejection however it was the scar of guilt. After breaching the wall, landing over the same puddle again his feet sneaked away from the area.
"Maybe, it was just for the best to remain out of sight."
He halted for a thought just when the thunder interfered. He looked up and it was about to rain again. Before he could even think any more, the cold rain showered over him.
Its raining again, will she be there?.
He changed his direction and dismounted the roads. Keeping his umbrella over the head, making his way though the brightly green woods. The bridge appeared, empty.
He looked around and she was there.
At the shed already in the same office suit, he marched there too."Hey there" she called out immediately standing up as her eyes caught him. Her smile, so refreshing as always.
Both rested over the same bench again. She was smoking and he was noticing her without a word.
One after another, even three cigarettes couldn't satisfy her, he couldn't help but notice.
"Smoking one after another isn't good, you know?" He uttered in a hope of a converse.
She turned towards him like she too wanted a single chance to chat again.
"You sure do know much for a student. Doesn't the smoke effect you?" She gladly responded.
"My father is a smoker too. So, I am used to it" he replied without hesitation.
"Well I do have some snacks to go with it, you know" she all of a sudden got hyped digging her hands inside her bag. She brought out an overflowing pile of chocolate bars and forwarded to him with a smile.
"Here".
He flinched back a little with a nervous smile. It was quiet weird though. Observing his reaction, she took a sigh and dropped them all over the bench.
"You must think I just a freak right?." Her smile disappeared to nowhere claiming herself one before he could answer.
"Its okay, we all have our small quirks" she couldn't look at him now. How amazing was it that he understood, it was enough to create a small smile, a pure one.
Even he went silent for a while. Both configuring at parted ways. His brows fell as he smiled out a glooming one.
He took out the lunch box.
"Too much chocolate isn't good so, why not have this?".
She lift her head again.
"Your lunch box?".
"Yea, I put allot of effort into it. I couldn't have it in school, So why not now?" He gladly kept in between them beside the chocolate pile.
"You sure?" She tried to reassure his idea settling from the surprise he just pulled out.
"I am, It would be my pleasure if I could share it, with some else. After a long time" his voice decreased for the last sentence to come in whisper.
It was truly a long time before he could even share some words, some precious time with someone else. With someone he was getting so attached to.
Times combined, they had enjoyed their moment. It was theirs alone to remember, to treasure.
Even the rain came to an end eventually.
"Your quiet skilled in cooking, unlike me, I can't do anything good". It wasn't jealousy for not being a fiasco at it but another reason to sink down even more.
"I am sure you are good at allot of stuffs that is still to be noticed" it was his confidence, which spoke so gently to lighten her heart more. After another hour, the chocolate bars were going back inside when he picked up just one for himself, out of courtesy or a desire of sweet. She smiled out brighter looking at him take one.
"I should be leaving then" she prepared herself to leave, picking up the bag around her shoulder.
"Oh. I couldn't know your name yet" his mind sparked out of the blue that he still required her name at least.
It hit her as well, feeling nothing less than an absolute stupid of all time.
"Its Ai Tanaka" .
"Mine is Akio Nakamura"."See you again, Nakamura-kun".
"W-Will we meet again?".
"Yes. Even if it doesn't rain. We will".
