"That is no mere cave nor lair, but Daederys himself."
Maviel heard Mordecai speak when they saw the rise of the bigger dragon, but she discarded his voice as mere noise. Seraphina wasn't overreacting when she said Daederys was comparable to this mountain, seeing that Maviel mistook a portion of his tail as a cave.
Soaring above the heavens with its wingless, serpentine body was the creature of benevolence; a golden-scaled, five-clawed dragon. The dragon of memories roared like a demented beast, spitting out endless pits of magma with its gleaming fangs.
A slaughtering gust of wind blew as Daederys moved, cutting and knocking over myriads of trees surrounding the area. If it weren't for Viridescent's support—who has now transformed back into her dragon form—Maviel and Mordecai surely would've been swept away by the bigger dragon's arising.
"Who dared to interrupt my slumber?" The dragon's roar echoed throughout the mountains. Flashes of lightning flickered, thunder roared, and the earth trembled. It was as if the heavens were bowing to the king of the dragons.
Maviel didn't know how to respond. She never thought she was capable of ever getting speechless or getting cold feet, but there she was, shaking uncontrollably in front of the superior creature. Did they really plan to go against such a ferocious beast?
Thankfully, she was with Viridescent. "Stop trying to scare your visitor, Daederys! It's not working."
"Oo nga. Nadadamay ako!" Mordecai seconded.
Kumalma lamang ang dragon nang makita ang dalawa. The wind died down almost immediately after the dragon stopped roaring. Daederys maneuvered himself mid-air.
"At sino 'yang kasama mo? Bakit ka may kasamang mortal?"
"Can you please slow down with the questions?"
Maybe because they were both true dragons, Viridescent was able to speak with Daederys fearlessly, but their conversation alone was enough to make Maviel's heart leap through her chest.
"Then start answering them!"
Viridescent rolled her eyes. Hindi niya maiwasang mapaisip na napaka-demanding talaga no'ng dragon na kaharap nila. Ang hirap kausap, kaya humarap na lang siya kay Maviel at itinuro ito. "To answer first of your question, I present to you your visitor for today. This is Maviel. Maviel, say hi."
Maviel prayed to all the Gods in the heaven above when the golden-scaled dragon turned his attention to her. She uttered a small "hi" before she was promptly blown away by the dragon's howl. "What brings you here, mortal?"
