Altessa's POV

As I walked down the hallway to my next class I kept my head straight and tried not to bump into anyone on my way to class. The sea of students made my walk difficult as I moved between two jocks to get to my locker.

I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to see my best friend Melinda smile at me.

"Where you going Speedy Gonzalez?" she asked giggling.

My happiness bubbled to the surface causing me to grin "class is in ten minutes and I don’t want Mr. Hughs to catch me coming in late" I rolled my eyes "you know he is always out to put me down just because he is the one slacking off."

Mr. Hughs was the Physics teacher who didn't deserve to graduate from teachers college. The man had no tact when dealing with students. His teaching could be summed up to these two reasons; one, you want to pass? You sit and take down word for word the explanation he gave you and not the ones you get in the text book because 'I don’t like the term so use my explanation' and two when he decides to grace you with his presence ten minutes before classes end to pile on a boat load of work you take it without a word.

Melinda frowned "you have Hughs this year? Didn't that girl complain about him wasting yall time?"

I nodded "Yah but he rebuffed it saying if she listened in class when he did show up she would have passed. So it just went the way of the dinos." She gripped my hand and we walked to the science department together since Melinda had Chem this period.

We walked in a comfortable silence before we passed the girls restroom. The door opened to reveal Shanique and Dina. They were in an animated conversation as they walked out the door; they didn't see Altessa and Melinda before they swung the door hitting Altessa in the face making her fly backwards and landing on the ground with a thud.

"Tessa!!"

As Melinda got down on her knees to check her friend and see if she was alright Shanique realized what had happened and turned to Tessa "Opps, my bad girl never even noticed you were there" she apologized looking down at the two girls.

Tessa blinked one, twice before smiling and saying "no harm done, I'm alright."

Lin helped her to get up though it felt like she practically lifted her into the air.

"That’s good, there was not much of you there in the first place it's good that you didn't lose anything in that fall," Shanique look curious "are you sure nothing is broken? You’re such a fragile, delicate thing I have to wonder how you don’t get blown way in a strong breeze."

Tessa's smile dropped a little before it returned Shanique didn't mean any harm she was just joking around to make light of the situation “I’m alright thanks for your concern, let’s go Lin" Tessa said rushing away from the girls towards her class room.

Lin who had Tessa's bag took off after her friend. When she caught up Tessa was outside her classroom door waiting for her.
