CONNER
Last night had been a mistake.
Conner couldn't remember much past his third drink which is what told him how big of a mistake it had been. He hadn't been that drunk in a good long while. He could think of only two other occasions where he had woken up feeling this shitty and had been unable to remember the night before. The day Derek had been locked up and the day Melody had dumped him. But what was his excuse this time? Truth be told he didn't have one. It was just a few drinks with Cody after what had been a particularly frustrating and busy day at work. He should have known better though. A few drinks with Cody always lasted longer than a few drinks. Though it didn't usually take place at a club and the drinks weren't generally anything stronger than beer. But last night they had been... and he sure was paying for it this morning.
Letting out a low groan Conner moved his hands to his face, trying to rub away some of the sleep that lingered as well as some of the haze from last night. But damn it was hard to think with his head pounding the way it was. He swore he could hear the beat of his heart... but why did it have to be so damn loud. How was he supposed to think straight? And the light... why was it so damn bright?! It burned his eyes from behind his lids and made him just want to roll over into the cool darkness of his pillow. He was going to have to get up sooner or later though. At the very least to call in sick to work. Martin would probably have one hell of a lecture for him tomorrow but today... Conner couldn't have cared less. Martin would probably be even more pissed off with him if he showed up this hung over.
His thoughts of facing his friend and boss were interrupted though as there came a rustle in the bed beside him as though someone was rolling over, the sheet that covered him getting pulled to the side in the process. That was one way to sober up. His hands sliding from his face Conner opened his eyes to the harsh blinding light that was streaming into the room through the half open curtains at the side of the room. Squinting against the blinding light the man slowly pushed himself to sit up, the sudden movement sending his head spinning. Freezing he waited for the room to stop moving, a hand held against the side of his head as it slowly adjusted and settled. The distraction of his pounding head and the spinning room had almost been enough to make him forget why he had woken up to begin with. Almost. But the sliding of the sheets was quick to remind him as what was left covering him was suddenly pulled the rest of the way off, leaving him sitting in the bed in not much more than his boxers.
Pulling his gaze around, Conner felt his pulse speed up as his gaze settled upon the bare back of a mystery woman who had very nearly completely cocooned herself in his sheets. Now who the hell was that? Had he met someone last night? Well he must have. Because here he was more than half naked with what appeared to be a completely naked woman beside him. Not that he could know that for sure, she was too well tangled in the sheets for a proper look. He couldn't see much more than her bare shoulders and a wild mess of long brunette hair scattered all about the pillows.
Letting out a low sigh and closing his eyes for a moment, Conner took a deep calming breath trying almost desperately to remember now. It wasn't like this was the first time he had woken up with a woman in his bed... but it sure as hell would be the first time he couldn't even remember her name. He had the vaguest memory of a girl at the club... She had seemed to catch his eye and he supposed it was possible this was her. But he couldn't remember going over to her, couldn't remember talking to her, he couldn't remember anything. When the hell had he turned into Cody? Hooking up with strangers and having drunken one night stands was Cody's thing, not his.
Slowly releasing a long sigh the large man opened his eyes again, swinging his feet over the edge of the bed and standing up. The room spun again before him and he felt himself wobble a little before everything fell still once again. He took a careful step and when it seemed like he wasn't going to fall over he took another, slowly and as quietly as possible slipping from the room, pulling the door half closed behind him before making his way to the bathroom. When there Conner pushed the door closed behind him, not bothering about it closing all the way before pulling open the medicine cupboard to hunt down the Aspirin. There was bound to be some somewhere still. Derek had always kept the house stalked with stuff like that before he "went away".
