CHAPTER 1

LEVI'S POV

"God damn why is it so cold?" I hissed. I don't want to be out in the cold, but there's really no helping it. My co-worker, Hanji, is making us all buy Christmas presents for someone this year. So now I'm out in the freezing cold trying to find something to give Petra, I was picked to give her something. I mean, what the hell does a girl want? A book? I don't know.

I felt a buzz in my pocket and I pulled my phone out,"Ugh, what does she want now." I growled. I unlocked my screen and answered the most likely to be regretful phone call,"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey Levi, we're having a get together tonight, so make sure to get here around 10:00, I know its 9 already, so just make the shopping quick. We're all going to open the presents at my house, you should be able to make it, shouldn't you." Hanji babbled on. I stood there just waiting for her to stop when she sighed,"Oh yeah,  can you stop by the cafe and grab the spare change jar. I forgot to grab it, we're going to give it to the orphanage house tonight as well."

I nodded, pinching the bridge of my nose,"Ok, ok. Please just let me go. What do you think Petra wants?" I asked. She thought for a second then said,"Oh! She was talking about this small little shoe shop down the street from the cafe. She said there's these cute little slippers in the window. Get her those.'' I nodded and said,"Thanks. I'll be over in a little while." With that I hung up and walked to the cafe.

With key in hand I unlocked the front door and quickly made my way inside, escaping the cold air. My breath in pants as I tried to warm up, and my nose pink from the cold weather outside. I walked over to the counter and picked up the change jar, counting about 15 dollars inside,"People were really caring this year." I said with a small smile. It quickly went away as I remembered I would have to go back outside.

I reluctantly walked out, taking about a minute or so to make myself a cup of coffee, and headed down the street. Me and Hanji own a coffee shop, its name is Rivalle's Tea. I know its a coffee shop, but we sell all kinds of things:cup cakes, tea, coffee, cakes, and muffins. I kind of didn't want to go into my own business but now I figure it was a good idea. We make a good bit of money and with 6 other people working with us, its not as much work as I thought it would be.

As I began my descent down the sidewalk I started wondering where the shop really was. I know Hanji said it was not far from the cafe, but when she says that, she could mean it was down town. I walked a little further, getting more and more pissed as I couldn't find it. I was about to pull out my phone when I saw a sign with Sophie's Shoes. I walked across the street, the snow falling softly on the ground, covering the black concrete.

When I pushed the door open a bell sounded, letting the worker know that someone had entered. I looked over and saw a teen, with blonde hair and a smile plastered on his face. I turned back to the window where Hanji had said the shoes were and didn't see any slippers.

"Ah, excuse me." I said getting his attention. He looked over and said,"Yes sir." I looked back and asked,"Have you seen any slippers for women over here?" He nodded and said,"Yes, they were moved to the back of the store for more room. Sorry for the inconvenience. Its on the second the last aisle." I nodded and walked to the back of the store, looking for any kind of slippers.

When I made it to the back of the store I noticed a small boy, with chocolate brown hair looking at a pair of high heels. He was about 10 or 11,wearing a green long sleeve shirt and brown pants. They were a little torn and I couldn't help but wonder how he wasn't shivering. I was wearing a heavy coat, jeans, mittens, and a long sleeve shirt under it all. I even had a blue and white scarf on to top it all off. He looked over to me, his green eyes quivering as he moved out the way,"S-sorry." He whispered moving out of my way.
