"Hello?" Emma asked and you leaned toward the crack in the door.

"Uh hey?" You say and she opens it wider.

"What are you doing here?!" She asked, "You could get into some serious trouble for this!"

"Uh- what?" You ask but before she could answer you both heard voices, the Count and Countess. She let out a harsh breath before pulling you into the room and shutting the door.

"It's a rule, you can't see me alone before the wedding." She says, walking to the bed and sitting on the side of it. "It's a scandal."

"Yeah okay well, I'm sorry?" You say. You had noticed she was wearing her pajamas. A thin see-through blue shirt and a pair of light cotton blue pants. They looked expensive and you were just wearing an old band shirt you bought and a pair of sweatpants from target.

"What are you doing here?" She asks.

"I just wanted to say thank you for defending me on Instagram, you didn't have to and you did. It means a lot to me." You say, folding your arms.

"Well, I wasn't going to just sit back and let them harass you over some stupid marriage!" She huffed, you thought it was cute she was flustered over you like this.

"But I thought you were honored to have me as your wife?" You tease, mimicking her accent lightly and she scoffed at you, waving a hand in your direction.

"I don't talk like that in the least bit! You Americans think you're so funny." She grumbled, folding her arms. Even though she was angered by the event you noticed that her eyes said otherwise, she seemed a bit at ease of you being there.

"Oh sorry, your majesty should I bow first?" You bow as well and she snorted, laughing.

"Don't start that with me! You're also going to be Queen! I wouldn't be so testy with me if we are going to rule together!" She smirked, thinking she won the argument.

"So what is it Emma, are we happily ruling some moonpie land or we are in a stupid engagement?" You point out how fickle her wording had been with the topic. She only huffed in annoyance.

"Either way - teasing me isn't getting anywhere on the matter." She pursed her lips.

You could of swore you saw her blushing, but the lamp was dimmed so it was harder to tell. She could have been flushed from the wine or maybe it was your teasing manner, either way, you still found her retorts attractive.

"On a serious note, have you learned anything new?" She asked, moving over so you could sit on the bed with her.

"Not really, I only talked to Tyrell." You said.

"I only spoke with Ezikeil the bodyguard, but no one else after that - at least in person." She hugged her pillow, her features clouding over with a solemn look.

"Yet apparently the world knows every detail about what happened today, even when you and I snuck out." You sigh, speaking of that Emma's phone received a notification.

You stared at her while she checked her second phone and was already grimacing. You tilted your head and she looked back up at you.

"It appears the rumors of you and I sneaking away are a lot more glamourous than what happened."

"What?" You asked, leaning closer to her to see the screen.

"It appears that people think we snuck out to have a snogging session or -" She paused, then raising her brows in surprise, "This one thinks we did something much more than talking."

"Yikes my dude, that's intense." You huff, falling back and crashing on her bed.

Emma only sighed, setting the phone down before looking up at the ceiling, she wished more than anything to be anywhere but this damned fancy mansion and to not be a missing heir - she already had enough of people spreading lies or twisting her words in the media, making this engagement worse than before.

"What do we do then?" She asked after a moment and you bit your lip, unsure yourself.

"I don't know honestly, I really don't know what to do Em." You say.

She took note of the little nickname you gave and smiled sadly, already you made her flustered and your humor was adorable, but the marriage was forced upon you both therefor the romantic feelings you two possibly had for each other were false. At least that's what she thought of the situation, but turning and seeing you spread out, laying on her bed idly dozing off made her want to stay in this moment just a bit longer.

Whatever tomorrow had planned could wait.
