Tori walked out of the changing room and into the gym. She wore the school's grey gym t-shirt but with her own shorts; the ones they gave her were way too short for her likings. She made sure her red Jordan Air's were on right before adjusting her ponytail.
As she looked around, she noticed that the teacher wasn't there yet. Some boys were playing one on one on the other side of the room, girls "stretched" in front of them exaggeratedly (and by stretch I mean bending over to show their asses), and others were just talking. Putting her headphones on, she decided to grab two basketballs to warm up. Ignoring the stares, she just kept dribbling the balls around, her ponytail swishing and bouncing as she moved. She'd dribble high and dribble low, she'd dribble forwards and dribble backwards, then started exchanging the balls in her hands.
Pretty much the entire room stopped to watch her, which she didn't mind. The boys who were playing stopped too, and that's when she recognized the boy with green eyes who pushed her the day before. Tori ignored him of course and kept doing her thing.
Jayden kept his eyes on her, he was intrigued and impressed. It wasn't everyday you'd witness a pretty girl killing it at a sport. Not that he thought she was pretty, she had too much acne and her lips were too big for his taste. She had a nice body though, one he was sure he'd bed one day.
Tori stopped at the three point line. Her left hand was dribbling one ball, and she threw the other with her right hand. As the ball she threw made its way to the net, she ran up for a layup with the second ball. The first ball hit the backboard, she caught it and threw it in effortlessly. It went in so perfectly, no sound was heard as it didn't touch the ring nor the net. Students whispered between them, making all sorts of comments.
Jayden's jaw dropped. How was she so good? Traveon and Caleb must've noticed because they chuckled a little at him.
"Close your mouth or you'll catch flies." Caleb teased.
"Yeah whatever."
The gym teacher walked in and blew her whistle. The sharp sound caused everyone to plug their ears instantly. She asked the students to gather around so their class could start.

Tori watched Jayden attentively. She's already taken note of a few of his faults and signature moves, so it wasn't too hard to guard him. Crouched in a guarding position in front of the biracial boy, she followed the ball he was dribbling closely to him with her eyes, and anticipated his next moves.
He faked to his left but she didn't budge, and stole the ball as he was going to go right. She sprinted to the other side of the gym and made a pass to a girl with jet black hair. That girl ankle-broke her defence, which was a short non-athletic guy, and scored a layup. They high fived and ran back to the defensive side.
Jayden wasn't happy. He wasn't going to let some disrespectful new girl embarrass him like that. They were playing some four versus four games, with the rule that every time a basket is scored the loosing team goes out. He grumpily went to sit next to Traveon on the bench, as Caleb went in with his team.
He drank his water, not wanting to watch that girl play. Attention seeking bitch, he thought to himself. He passed his hand through his curly hair, scratching his scalp, and making him less tense.
"Woah!" half the room exclaimed.
His head shot up.
"What happened?"
"That new girl blocked a shot by surprise." Traveon answered "She jumps high!"
He looked over at her. She high fived a teammate before going back to her defensive stance.
A few more games went on until her team was finally out. Tori couldn't lead them to win every match. Jayden's team stepped on and kept winning, until Tori's team came back on.
She had the ball to start. Jayden ran up to her to block her way. He was going to slap the ball out of her hands, but she made it go through his legs. People on the bench went "Oooh!" which annoyed him even more.
She was going to pass the ball to a teammate which was his chance to get it. She was holding the ball above her head so he ran up to her quietly and jumped. She must've known he was there because she took a step back and held the ball lower, making him fly away. The people on the bench made fun of him, making his blood boil. She passed the ball to a guy who tried to shoot but he missed.
Their eyes locked for a second, both holding dislike. It was like she was taunting him, she raised an eyebrow as if to ask what can ya' do? and he didn't seem to enjoy it. Playing with her opponents' psychology was something she really enjoyed doing, and it seemed to have been working. Her brown eyes left his green ones when she heard her name.
"Tori! Over here!"
She turned and ran off.
His team got the ball back and was heading to the other side. He was too far behind to receive a pass but his teammate didn't understand that. The ball went flying in his direction but never made it... Tori jumped and intercepted the pass. Jayden clenched his jaw and frowned as she landed.
They were both facing each other. It seemed to him like they were the only two in that gym. Tori understood the rivalry that has built up and smirked with squinted eyes. He glared at her, bending even lower to prepare for her attack.
He wouldn't let her pass. She moved back, she went to the side, or the other, he was there. Her eyes slightly lit up, confusing him. She dribbled lowly and very fast, passing the ball from one hand to another in front of her. Jayden tried to reach for it but she stepped back and crossed it between her legs.
"Oooh!"
He ignored the crowd and focused on her again. He realized she stayed to spite him as it was an opportunity for her to go score. She kept dribbling low again but this time he waited for her to move. She realized he wasn't gonna do anything so she shoved into him, making him fall, passed the ball behind her back and ran off.
"Oooh!" they shouted again.
She realized she passed the three point line so she backed up. Everyone else stopped playing just to watch them so she was alone. Tori looked back at Jayden who was on the ground, blew him a kiss with a wink, then turned back around to shoot a three. It went in of course, causing the class to go ballistic.
"Ohhhhh!"
The bell rang, marking the end of class, so Tori walked back into the changing room.
