CHAPTER 8

A Life and Death Combat

I left my room and came out with Albert. I was a little nervous because of what had happened a while ago. What if they’re still angry at me and use their magics against me? I can’t defend myself because I don’t know yet how to use magics.

We kept on walking until we got out of the whole building. I looked at Albert.

“May I ask you something?” I asked, “What are you talking about a while ago?”

        “About what?”

“About your knife and how you got it.”

        “Ah, about that .......”

        “What’s about it?”

        “I got it from a — “

        “What’s happening?”I asked.

The armory, it sounds like something’s happening. Far away, I saw witches fighting in a combat.

Albert and I ran towards the armory. There wasn’t a fight. In fact, the witches fighting were my classmates. So it means this is our next class.

        “Who?”

        “Larius.”

        “Larius?”

“He’s the best swordsman in the last two thousand years.”

A boy, Michael, approached to us wearing full Roman battle armor like others.

“Albert!” he called, “Why is that kid still here?”

“She’s a witch. What’s wrong with that?” Albert said.

“She don’t belong here.” he said.

        The others agreed.

“No, besides, it’s not her fault. It’s my fault. You shouldn’t be mad at her.” Albert said.

        “Don’t.” I said.

“Let me do this.” he said, “please forget what happened.”

“Only if she defeats me in a combat.” Michael said.

“I’ll fight you either.” Albert said.

“No. This is my fight. I’ll do it.” I said.

        “But you aren’t —“
