So, I'm a hardcore fan/shipper of the pairing "NejiTen". They're just so friggin' perfect *emoji heart eyes*, and Kishimoto had to mess it up by killing Neji. But I still ship them no matter what; My ghost NejiTen ship shall still sail! Anyway, this will be my
collection of one hundred drabbles of NejiTen - some by my pure imagination, some from my interpertation of how an episode with Neji and Tenten should've went down, etc.
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto sadly. If I did, Neji would still be alive and head of Hyuuga *insert Neji glare* Ahem, anway, I hope you guys enjoy this.

Tenten hated waiting. She hated how it made you so annoyingly nervous, how your mind swirled with endless "What Ifs's" and "Maybe's", which weren't at all pleaseant. She hated the feeling of not knowing, of beings so painfully in the dark, and the way it caused her heart to constrict painfully, and her throat to close up as she would swallow to force away the unwanted (and unneccessary in her opinion) tears. She hated the fact that the possibilty of having a solid anwser wasn't possible, and the only thing she could rely on was her own thoughts and postivity towards the situation.

What exactly was she waiting for though?

She was waiting for him. She was waiting for him since the war. Since the Hokage officially reported him as missing. Not a missing-nin, just missing. No one, not even Gai, Lee, Naruto, Hinata, knew of his whereabouts. He was gone, without a single trace, and the possibilties of what may have happened to him was utterly endless. Tenten tried to keep her thoughts positive, and she succeeded, but she couldn't control the ones at night. The ones that made her dart up, drenched in sweat and tears as she replayed her nightmare of Neji.

"He's probably meditating", they'll say.

"Tenten-chan, don't worry, he's fine, I'm sure" , they would whisper, trying yet failing to reassure the distressed kunoichi.

She let them feed her the lies, the tall-tales of a hope of return. She would only smile and nod, muttering a half-hearted "hai" as she laughed bitterly at them in her head.

Fools, he's never coming back. He's missing. He's dead. Nothing you can say can possibly bring my hopes up, because the sad truth is he's gone. Okay? He's GONE!

Tenten wanted to wait, but after a empty two years of fruitless wishes and hopes and empty promises made from the villagers, she stopped waiting. She didn't wait near the village gates, sitting there as she watched for a sign of him, sharpening her arsenal one by one. She didn't wait in bed, hoping that a tired yet alive Neji would burst through the door to greet her of his arrival.

Because she decided that if she kept waiting, she'd only keep disappointing herself, because waiting meant hoping, and hoping lead to disappointment and a crushing sense of despondence. And she decided that she would rather avoid that.

Unbeknowst to her, someone else was getting tired of waiting to.
