Hiro groggily opens his eyes as the sunlight filters in from his window. He sits up and rubs his eyes sleepily. When he looks up, he can feel his heart break.
The man that was once a ray of sunshine, able to bring light to even the darkest of areas, the man that is still Hiro's hero, sits on his bed staring blankly at the wall. The right side of his face is horribly scarred and mutilated, his right eye never to open again due to so much scarring.
Hiro gets up from his bed, fatigue now forgotten, and walks up to Tadashi, his older brother.
"Tadashi?" Hiro asks tentatively, reaching out and placing a hand on Tadashi's non scarred shoulder. Tadashi's once warm eyes focus on Hiro, their pupils dull and lifeless. "I just wanted to let you know that Aunt Cass probably wants us up by noon." The young prodigy jokes half heartedly.
Tadashi doesn't react.
Hiro sighs, "I'll be downstairs, waiting." He says as he stands up and starts to walk downstairs. He smiles at his unresponsive brother once more.
Once he gets out of the room, the smile falls, and the tears come to replace it. Hiro chokes back a sob as he curls up against the door to his and Tadashi's room. The man in that room was once a caring older brother. Sure, Hiro found his overprotectiveness annoying at times, but now... he'd give anything to have Tadashi lecture him over bot fighting. Anything rather than the unresponsive shell he's been turned into.
Tadashi wanted to help a lot of people.
But now he can't even help himself.
