Today is the grand finals of the intramurals in St. Agatha High School. The freshmen will face the juniors in a one thrilling game. Sean's heart was pounding as he walks to the court in the gymnasium of their school. He run to their team's bench an suddenly, the opponent caught his attention.
"Dude, do you think we'll win this game?" He asked Alex, his best friend.
"Yeah, just focus and trust yourself. We can win this." Alex replied.
The buzzer rang. It's the sign that the game will start in a few seconds. The five tough, and fearless boys led by Sean walke to the court. Whistle has blown and the game started with a jump ball. The opponent got the ball first. They were so fast. They keep penetrating the freshmen's defense and continued to score baskets. The parent were cheering so much that their face became as red as apple. None of them could stop the opponent's best player - Devon, a fifteen year old junior, 6"2 in height and was almost as good as Kobe Bryant. Devon was shooting in any spots and the shots were getting in. Halftime - both teams were extreme exhausted and the juniors were leading by 12 points.
Sean was frustrated because of the big lead by juniors.
"Come on guys! We can win this. Just execute the plays well and get stops." Sean tells the team.
At the beginning of the second game, Sean made four straight three point shot and tied the score. The crowd went wild. But the opposing team answered with four straight points coming from Devon. It was a close game, no one is letting go until the end. Sean made a crucial basket to give them the lead with twelve seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Freshmen leads, 66-64.
The opponent has the possession, Luke wasted the time until the time he threw a three point shot with 0.4 seconds remaining on the clock - it went in! The juniors fans roared and jumped together with their arms were on each others shoulder. The clocks ran out. The players went wild. The freshmen were quite as they leave the court. They were all broken hearted. Everyone was holding back their tears."We almost won until Devon..." Sean said with a frowning face, trying to fight his anger.
"It's okay. We're all winners. We fought until the end and we did no give up easily." The coach explained. "We just need to practice harder and be ready for next year." He added.Sean went home walking, wondering. Was it his fault that his team lost? You can see it in his face and he's very sad and disappointed about the game.
Once Sean got home, he threw his things on the couch and went to his room. He locked himself inside the room, still wondering and thinking about the game. "I should move on." He told himself. Sean prepared his things that he will use the next day in the gym with his friends.
