Mia POV
Work was long and busy, too busy for me to leave until closing at eight. I dialed Emma's number in my phone and jumped into my car. I pulled out my money and counted through it again while i waited for her to answer. I had earned about a hundred dollars today, I think that it might have been my best pay check. Emma finally answered after four rings.
"Hey Mia," Emma replied with a tired tone in her voice. I felt just as tired as she did, maybe more. I turned the ignition and off.
"I am done, where should I pick up dinner?" My stomach growled loudly and I felt like I hadn't eaten anything in days.
"Um maybe just Subway, I'll want a meatball sandwich!" She exclaimed. Mmm Subway sounded really good, my mouth began to water. "Should I ask Jay what he wants?" After Emma said this I felt a sharp pain of betrayal. Ugh Jay what am I going to do with you?
"No it's fine I already know what he likes, is he still there?" If he had left I think I am going to go crazy. I think that a nice grounding for life and no electronics whatsoever would set him straight.
"Yeah he hasn't even made a noise in there, I am debating whether or not I should go check on him." Emma contemplated.
"No I'll go and talk to him when I get home. If he isn't there I will call my mom and make her deal with it." My mom would probably not be able to handle this situation very well, but Jay is her responsibility. I pulled into the Subway drive-through and told Emma, "I'll be home in a few minutes, thanks again for babysitting Jay! See you!"
"No problem! Bye," She hung up, I closed my phone and set it in my lap. Then I pulled up to the area that they take my order and rolled down my own.
"Hello welcome to Subway, what can I get for you?" I heard a feminane voice ask.
"One meatball, one turkey, and one ham sandwich. All on italian bread, only 6 inch, and hold the mustard on the ham." Jay hates mustard.
"Okay please pull up to the first window," she ordered in her too cheerful voice. I did as she said and turned my music up a little higher. I Want You Back, by Cher Lloyd was playing on the radio and I couldn't help but sing along. When the lady gave me my food, I didn't care that she gave me a judgmental glare I just thanked her, gave her the money and was about to drive away when the car behind me honked.
I turned around about to give this jerk my finger, when I realized that it was Liam. My heart skipped a beat and I turned my music down. "Hey!" I yelled out to him waving.
The woman at the window rolled her eyes and said, "Do you need something else?" I looked at her confused, wondering what her problem was. Then I remembered that I was holding up the line.
"Oh sorry!" I rolled up my window and pulled into a parking spot, waiting for Liam. It would be rude of me not to stop and talk to him for a second.
A few minutes later he parked next to me and got out of his car. I rolled down my window and smiled at him. "How is suspension treating you bad boy?" I laughed at the nickname. "You know you still haven't a told me what poor Bracken did to deserve that chipped tooth." I don't know why I was flirting with him like this. Last night I barely even glanced at him.
"I chipped his tooth?" He gave me a look of disbelief, and I nodded grinning widly. He let out a big sigh and said, "I can't believe I am saying this, but I can't wait to go to school tomorrow. My family is driving me nuts." He rested his arms on my car and leaned in far enough to make me uncomfortable.
"Can I help you," I giggled leaning away from him. But not before I smelt his sweet scent, I'm not used to smelling a guys cologne, considering I almost never see Jay and I don't have any other man in my life. It was woodsy, almost like a pine.
"Why can't you get out of the car and talk to me?" He asked with a pleading look in his eyes. I laughed and smirked at him.
"Because I need to get home, and I don't want to stand," I explained. He shugged as if saying fair enough and then walked around my car. He open the passenger side's door and climbed in.
"Wow your car is very clean," He stated looking around.
"Thanks, get out now! I really need to get home." Hopefully Emma won't be too upset if I am later than I said I would be.
"Okay, okay," he threw his arms up in the air. "Sorry, I just haven't had any human interaction for a whole day! I think I am going crazy." He said, but didn't budge. I sighed and began to regret stopping.
"What about your sister Zoe, or your little twin brother and sister?" I asked laughing. Maybe I could talk to him for a little longer.
"Zoe is antisocial and the twins don't really count. Anyways why are you in such a hurry? Family drama?" He wondered, opening my glove department.
"Do you mind?" I laughed and slamed it shut. "And I guess that family drama is the right way to put it, now get out before I open the door and drag you out!" I threatened.
"I'd like to see you try," He chuckled. "Anyways, family trouble huh? What going on down at the Shae's? Your remote to the T.V ran out of batteries?" He teased. If only, I wished.
"Hmm if only our family was that innocent. Try a little brother stashing marijuana in his room." I replied. His eyes went wide and his face looked shocked.
"Jay?" He asked, seeming a little disturbed. I rolled my eyes and nodded, who else would it be? "Well I guess that it isn't that bad, like half the students at our school smoke." This time I looked at him in disbelief.
"Not that bad? He could get addicted, he could get cancer, he could die! How could you be so insensitive!" I yelled at him. My face was starting to turn red with anger.
"I'm sorry Mia, I was just trying to give you an explanation. He probably just got presured into it and now he thinks it's cool. Maybe if he doesn't stop I could go talk to him." He told me calmly. I tried to calm down myself, but was having trouble.
"Okay, I'll let you know if I need you, bye," I dismissed him. If he didn't get out now I will literally drag him.
"Okay," He finally opened the door, "And if you need me for anything else, let me know," He winked. I shook my head and rolled my eyes, then I waved at him before driving away.
