A Trick of Fate - Venus

My eyes adjust to the frisky light of the airport, after spending 8 hours on an aeroplane; not only are my palms sweaty, my convoluted mind is also bubbling with frenzy. My enthusiasm is a lot more measured than Sheila's who is currently taking photos of the airport's trash cans because "they're so cute and colourful!!!" Little excited noises sprout from her mouth and her high pitched voice pierce my eardrums that are living the aftermath of 8 hours with headphones in.
"Uh, we should probably catch a taxi" I turn around after hearing Felicity's voice for the first time since customs in Australia, and see her tired eyes pleading for an escape from the cacophonous noise the airport crowd was creating.
"Yeah, let's get outta here," I say with a smile in a feeble attempt to cheer her up.
Felicity's always been a mystery to me despite having known her since the seventh grade, ironically, she knows be better than anyone else, I don't know why I trust her but I always have and always will. She knows what to say at the right time and she sometimes mother's Sheila and me but we know she's just looking out for us. Felicity is the reason we're in Japan, she got me into anime and Japanese culture when we were thirteen and somehow, it's a phase we haven't grown out of. Sheila has always been more distant from everyone in a way that she's so caught up in a world of her own that she sometimes seems to forget about the real world. She is the most talented person I know, master in every single art, a voice of an angel and the personality of a fighter.
"Venus!" Sheila squeals.
"Sorry did you say something?" I look at her with a blank expression on my face.
"Like ten times!!! The taxi is here and you're the only one who actually speaks Japanese." Her tone is exasperated and even though I know I'm supposed to look after them I've never felt smaller.
"I'm sorry, there's just some stuff on my mind" that's me, apologising for existing but not for my mistakes. As we get into the car I can feel my eyes start to droop but I have to maintain myself upright because Felicity is on my right and Sheila is on my left and I don't like leaning on other people. Both literally and metaphorically. Sheila sees my head starting  to bob and gives me her travel pillow. Felicity connects my phone to her portable charger and passes me headphones as she shuffled her playlist. They're kinda perfect if you ask me. :)
