Chapter 4

"What does it mean" Charlotte whispered
" I don't know, but someone did this..... on purpose" Lois replied griping tighter on the corpse with a vengeful voice
"So its a homicide?, we should call the police"
" Don't bother, already tried there's no service"
They both turned instinctively as they heard someone's feet shuffling in the bushes
"What was that, WHO'S THERE?"
No one replied as the noise kept getting louder and heading closer in their direction
"Okay, I've had enough of this creepy crap tonight, Lois let's get the hell of out here"
Lois said nothing as she continued to stare at the corpse, traumatized by the scene, analyzing every specter of the body.
"Lois, I know you've been through a lot but we have to get out of her, are you listening?"
Lois was clearly not listening as she continued staring at the corpse
Charlotte finally decided to lift, her since it was obvious, Lois was ready to spend the rest of her life staring at the dead body
"PUT ME DOWN"
"No, we'll come back for the body but we have to get out of here, ok-.."
Charlotte paused after seeing what was finally making the noise in the bushes, it was something of a silhouette, she tried to identify it by squinting and looking closer, it had a feminine shape, but her concentration was cut short as the shadow came closer toward her
"What the hell is that,........Okay, I'm out"
Charlotte dashed through the woods, with Lois on her back, into the dark forest, without a flashlight,
Charlotte finally put Lois down after the exhausting run, they had spent the whole night in the forest, looking for the other girls, mosquitoes had invaded every part of their bodies
Charlotte looked at her phone and realized the time
"Its morning, the sun should be coming out any time soon".
The image of Emily suddenly appeared in Lois' head again, she couldn't help as tears accompanied the thought, Charlotte didn't know how to comfort her, since she hadn't lost a sister before, she didn't know what to say, but she sat by Lois and put her arms around her, saying nothing, since she could only sympathize and not empathize. They both waited patiently for the sun to come up and shed a dint of light on their predicament.
"Well let's get going then",
They started moving when the sun came up, they spent so long searching for house, and after 3 hours of searching by dint of luck, they found the house.
"Oh my God, you guys look terrible", Esther said after seeing Lois and Charlotte, with the clothes all torn.
"We......ha-have,....... to get out....of these woods now" Charlotte insisted urgently, gasping. Charlotte wasn't the enduring type, The mosquitoes that had raided her body overnight were one thing but 100 meter raced she ran with considerable weight, to put some distance between herself and the thing she saw in the woods, left her severely exhausted, her shortness of breath made her unable to concentrate and she passed out, immediately after talking to Esther.
Esther panicked and called the other girls to help carry Charlotte inside.
"Where is Emily" Karen asked Lois, when she saw her standing there, unbothered.
Lois said nothing and just walked away, heading inside, Karen enraged by Lois' rudeness, dashed and grabbed Lois by the hand. Lois turned and stared back with a look the sent shivers down Karen's spine, her pupils dilated, Karen felt as if she was staring into an endless pit of darkness, there was no flicker of light, she couldn't even she her own reflection, Lois' eyes reflected that of a soulless being. Karen immediately let go off Lois' hand, stunned by the cold glare, Lois continued her way inside.
" What happened to her" Karen asked herself.
".......damn this girl is heavy, Karen, come give us a hand",
It was getting dark and none of the girls had been able to find a way out of the woods as well. Charlotte had regained consciousness and told them everything that had happened, including the incident with Emily. She preferred to leave Lois out of the conversation, since she didn't want her to relive such a traumatizing event again.
Gwen started heading down the stairs with her car keys in her hand and went straight for the way out.
"And where do you think you're going" Esther asked
"I'm sorry, are you deaf or just playing stupid?, didn't you hear what Charlotte said?"
"I did, but you have to calm dow-..."
"THERE'S DEAD BODY ON THE SCENE, WITH SOMEONE OR SOMETHING IN THE WOODS BEHIND IT, and you expect me to calm down?".
"Yes, calm down, where are you even going?, its dark and its not like any of us has been able to find our way out yet?
"Don't worry about me, I'll take my chances"
Gwen slammed the door behind her and walked away crippled and controlled by fear. The engine started and Esther watched as the car's taillights dimmed with the distance.
"She's gone?" Cathy asked in disbelief
"I think we should all do the same" Emmanuelle, who had been quiet the whole time suggested.
"I don't think that's a good ide-.."
Suddenly, all the lights in the house went out, the darkness swallow everyone and everything, no one could see a thing, the screams that accompanied the darkness made it even more terrifying.
"Calm down, please, you'll only make the situation worse" Esther tried being the voice of reason, but none of the panicking girls listened as the screams kept getting louder.
"Let's all go outside, we'll be able to see with the moonlight", Emily Clarke suggested,
There's was a stampede with glass shattering as they all forcibly made their way outside.
"Is everyone here?" Charlotte asked trying to take a roll call
Karen? Stacy? Emily? Lois-..."
"We're all here" Lois replied
" what do we do now" Karen asked
"CALL THE POLICE" Lois screamed
"There's no service, still" Esther replied
Their phone batteries were also dying as well, it was a grim situation.
"I'm going to get the flashlights" Esther went into the pitch blackness, being the only one who knew where the basement was.
"I KNEW I SHOULDN'T HAVE COME HERE" Stacy echoed regrettably
"Shut your pie hole you could have stayed in France for all we care" Cathy responded
Stacy exploded and dashed for her hair immediately after that statement, the hair pulling and scratches started with Charlotte trying so hard to separate them.
"I'll kill you, you stupid bit-..."
They all kept quiet as they heard screams from inside
" who was that" Stacy asked frightened
"Its Esther, she went back inside to get the flashlights" Charlotte replied
All of them rushed inside to see what happened after the saw the ray of the flashlights and the screams that followed, they went inside confident in their numbers.
They met Esther, unharmed in the hall way.
"Esther, what happened, why did you scream" Lois asked.
Esther said nothing as she covered her eyes with one hand and pointed to the ceiling with the other. Drops started plopping on Charlotte's face, they followed the direction of Esther's hand......the scene was deplorable, Nothing but screams followed.
"Oh my God"
"Jesus Christ"
"Gwen?"
The girls said, trembling at the sight of Gwen's dead body. It seemed her escape plan didn't work, and had her meeting an early grave.
Gwen's dead body had been nailed to the ceiling, after a severe blow to the head, the wound was still open and she was bleeding profusely. Some of the girls lost it and ran out of the scene.
Lois however, unmoved by the scene, looked closer and found the same writing on the dead body as she did with her sister's corpse. This time it was a date,
