Chapter six: Lila and Connor's Guilt catches up with them

Connor wakes up the following day and turns to his side smiling at Lila who was sound asleep. He looked at her with immense happiness.

Something just told him that she was the one worth going straight for regardless of what happened in their past but that voice in his head kept niggling at him.

"But she cheated you of any relationship with your father and out of your inheritance!"

The truth was though that it was not Lila's fault not really. It was the fact that Connor had grew up with a lonely bitter old man just like his father before him and wasn't even capable of love.

He knew that was the truth but what if this was the start of him becoming bitter and full of regret like his old man? The very thought scared him. As much as he wanted his revenge on Lila he couldn't understand why is heart was falling for her but his head was still very much in the game.

Part of him wanted to tell Lila the truth but something told him that she may react badly to it. If someone you knew told you that bumping into you was no accident and it wasn't fate but on purpose because you wanted revenge on somebody who was simply just a child when his father have away money to a girl that wasn't even his child to begin with. You would feel angry too, But on the hand he knew that the person he should be angry with us his father but as his father is no longer here. Lila was just the person caught in the cross-fire.

He kisses her waking Lila up gently. She wakes up groggily as she watched him get up and get dressed. She looks at the desk click beside her. "Where are you going at 6.30 in the morning?"

He shrugs, "I just need to get a bit of fresh air that's all, I got a lot on my mind."

She frowns at him, "Connor, Is this about the job interview because if you didn't get it then you haven't let me down you know."

He sits down rubbing his head fustratedly and sighs, "Yeah something like that and I have really..The thing is Lila, My past doesn't exactly paint me as a great person but with you, You make me want to be better which is why I don't want to let you down."

Lila looks at him confused, "You could never do that, No matter what's happened in your past..You don't have to say anything but you can tell me whenever your ready."

He smiles at her and touches her hand affectionately. "Thanks Lila, I appreciate it."

He gets up off the bed but Lila yanks him back on the bed. "What the hell Lila? You know I'm not in the mood as it is." Lila looks at him almost close to tears. "What you did there was a big step, You were honest with me and the truth is I need to be honest with you."

Connor's heart beats slightly faster as she said that. "Lila, Whatever it is it can't be bad and Whatever it is we can get through this together."

A lump forms in Lila's throat. "The truth is my past hasn't exactly made me a great person either and I haven't exactly learned from my mistakes, I used to sleep around a lot and I didn't care about the guys I was sleeping with until I met you."

Connor looks at her bewildered. This was not what he expected her to say. He kind of hoped that he would mention his father and where she got her money from because maybe just maybe this would be easier for him. But what he didn't know was it was going to get the hell of a lot more messier.

"Lila, You don't have to justify yourself to me. I'm the last person that would judge you. After all I've done I don't have a leg to stand on either so you don't have to tell me."

Tears fall down Lila's cheek. This was clearly the hardest thing that she had ever done. She was doing this partly before he found out from Josh to save her own skin and partly because part of her did want to make this work and somehow resolve all of her own issues.
"That's the thing Connor, I do have to tell you and be honest with you because I really want to make this relationship work."

Connor was lost in thought staring at her. Has he really found the right girl? The right girl that he could go straight for? "I'm glad you told me. You should get some rest, All this truth talk really takes it out of you."

He attempts to leave again but this time she yanks the covers off and runs to the door blocking his path from exiting the room. "Connor, I wasn't done, That wasn't what I wanted to confess."

Connor sits down on the bed patiently. "Lila, What is it?"

She struggles to get the words out. "I've been having an affair behind your back. It's been going on for a while now and it started way before you and I ever met."

What she said was the truth. Her and Josh used to muck around and they wasn't serious but it's only recently after their argument and today that she had two people that was in love with her that she realised she can't keep hurting people anymore.

He clenches his fist angrily. "I have two questions for you, How long have you been cheating on me and Who is this guy?"

She looks away from him. She couldn't look at him in the eyes knowing what she's done and of course knowing that he wouldn't like the answer. "His name is Josh and it's been going on for four years but there's more to the story."

He growls at her angrily. "I can't even stand to be even in the same room as you never mind looking at you after what you've done. How can you live with yourself? Move out of my way now!"

She steps aside to allow him to pass through the door and collapses on the ground in tears. Connor walks through the bedroom door and out the front door without looking back, Not knowing if he would ever come back here again.
