"Damn! We lost the signal!" Luke said angrily.

He stood up and kicked the chair.

"What are we going to do now?" Jazz asked.

"Let's try the radio," Carlos suggested.

Rixie picked up the radio and tried to contact the agency.

"The radio signal is lost too," she said.

"Looks like we're dead meat now", Carlos laughed awkwardly.

"I should've stick to my dominoes", Luke sighed.

"What are we going to do now? The agency will think that we're gone missing or our spaceship crashed into an asteroid or whatever type of rock. I hate to say this but it looks like we're considered dead just like what happened to the other teams that had been assigned to this project" Jazz stated worriedly.

"What do you think? What should we do now?" Rixie turned to Luke and Carlos.

"Let's dance lambada?" Carlos replied jokingly while moving his hips left and right.

Luke shrugged and nodded in my direction. They all turned to me.

"What?" I asked.

"Hello? Sophie, have you forgotten that you are the team leader here?" Rixie said.

"Ummm...yeah.. Luke, please try again to reconnect the signal and try to be patient this time" I said.

Luke gave me a face. I raised my eyebrows.

"You know how impatient I am and you want me to be patient? Seriously?" he said.

"Come on, you can do it," I said.

"And how in the universe can I do it?" he said.

"Try to listen to music, maybe that'll work. You should borrow Carlos' headphones" I said.

"No! Not my headphones!" Carlos frowned, hiding his headphones under his shirt.

"I'm not gonna swallow it!" Luke argued as he held his hand to Carlos, asking for the headphones.

Carlos raised an eyebrow, "but you might slam it on the floor bitch!"

"Give it to me right now", Luke tried forcing the headphones out of Carlos' grip. Carlos fought back.

"Are you two kids or something?" Rixie scolded the two. "Give it to him, Carlos! If ever he broke it I'll buy you a new one".

Carlos stared at Rixie for a few seconds and then gave the headphones to Luke. "I'm going to skin you alive and make a tortellini pasta out of it and feed it to your Italian ass if you broke it!"

Luke put his hands up in the air as a sign of defeat and went back to his position to try and reconnect the signal.

I sighed at the short commotion the two made. "Check the program Jazz, maybe there is something wrong there that prevents us from reconnecting to the agency. Rixie, try to reprogram our satellite receiver if Luke still can't reconnect it. And Carlos, drive this thing, we'll still going to continue this journey, stay in the west. We're not going back", I added.

They all followed what I've said without complaints. I walk closer to the window and observe the beauty of the space.

We've been traveling for almost four Earth's months here in outer space in search of the mysterious planet named Planet DYDX. Actually, I didn't want this project, these was Rixie, Jazz, and Carlos' idea. They volunteered to revive this old project. The files for Planet DYDX has been sitting at the very edge of the unproven theory shelves, and you know what's funny, it has a note pasted on the folder that says 'waste of time, a fucking myth'.

As for Luke and I, we're just dragged in this mission. The five of us were friends and obviously we discussed our crazy ideas and theories but I never thought I'd say yes to this craziest idea ever. Maybe it was because I was worried for them. Carlos and Luke are very reckless and have no sense of danger, and I swear these two have a buddy necklace of a vial of plutonium as a pendant. Rixie is pretty clumsy and forgetful especially when it comes to labeling things such as solutions or any other samples. Jazz is a bit of a run here run there that she doesn't even know where to focus. But I swear, all these four are geniuses.

As to why I'm the team leader, well.. I'm the only senior astronomer out of us five so they have no other choice. But also I think maybe because they trust my judgment, I sometimes weirded out by the fact that whatever I command they'll do it with no question. About this project, actually if I'm going to be honest, I'm actually kinda interested in its history.
