I contacted one of my favorite authors for an interview. VanieeMadera writes a book called Shakespeare, Coupons, and Duct Tape: The Life of a College Student. That is her most popular book, which has 715K reads. Her second most popular book is The Craglist Nanny which has 367 reads.
I had asked her a few questions, here are the answers.
1: You're following a guy named Sexton, who writes extremely explicit stories, yet it seems like you have a hard time writing a sexual scene in your story Shakespeare, Coupons, and Duct Tape: The Life of a College Student why is that?
Lol, I have difficulty rewording explicit scenes in my stories cause the content rating and everything which is why they come out all messed up and awkward. Which is why I follow Sexton cause I like to absorb how he plays out his scenes, if that makes sense xD
2: How did you get the inspiration to write your stories?
I get inspiration from just random thoughts about my everyday life, ya know? I like taking simple concepts and try to make it into something cool.
3: Someone who goes by the name of AdriannaFloresArce commented on the 7th chapter of Shakespeare, Coupons, and Duct Tape: The Life of a College Student saying that tenses in the Spanish expressions are wrong, even though she isn't Mexican, she's sure that they don't talk like that everyday. Your response was sassy and snappy, did she hit a nerve?
Lol, I knew someone was gonna notice haha c: Well, I guess she kinda did and I was having a bad day that day so, I shouldn't have snapped but eh, it just bothered me...hmm, how do I explain? Well, let's put it this way. Claire's family is a reflection of my own annnnd it irked me that she said she was sure they don't talk like that and I dunno I guess I got defensive about it haha that's my family, ya know? That's how my family literally is and I know that the Spanish expressions weren't perfect but all Spanish is different and since she's so obviously stated she's not Mexican so, how would she know? dunno, I don't think I explained that correctly LOL. Basically, if you don't have your facts straight then don't go blabbering your mouth :3
4: How many years have you been on wattpad? How did you get to where you are today?
I've been on Wattpad since September 2009 I believe. I hardly used Wattpad when I first opened an account and had only publish a really horrible story called, "Our Luna." Then after that I left for a while and came back in 2010 almost 2011 and just kinda grew with my second published story The Game Has Changed.
Getting to where am I today is mostly due to my readers and those nice of enough to follow a noob writer like me haha. Um, it was a long process to get to where I am today but I mostly improved because of my readers :3 so, thanks to them hehe!5: For all the potential writers, do you have any advice?
Yes, I do! When I started publishing TGHC I had a lot of people tell me what direction I should go in and what to do with certain characters and blah, blah. It was quite stressful for me because I really wanted to impress people, ya know? But it took my story in a direction I didn't like so, I guess, to any new or any writer's I would just say to create and do what you wanna do with your story because it is YOUR story and no one else's so, don't let anyone tell you how to write yours tory, because at the end of the day...Your opinion is the only one that should matter. Just keep thinking outside the box and hopefully you'll make that one story that thousands, if no millions, will come to adore and love.
Hehe, that was so cheesy xD!
