Luke's POV
My hands were near shaking as I sat in my mother's car and gazed out the window at my new school. We were new in town and I was starting my first day. To be honest, it wasn't even the first day. It was my first day. I was joining the school after Christmas break had ended. I could feel the nervousness bubble up in my stomach as I chewed on my bottom lip anxiously. Everyone would already know each other and then there's me. The new kid.My thoughts were broken as I felt my mom place her hand on my arm. I turned my head to look over at her and she gave me a reassuring smile. "You ready, sweetheart?" I exhaled a heavy breath before I nodded my head a little, giving her a small smile before I unbuckled my seat belt and sat up a bit more. "Ready," I replied.
I then opened the car door and stepped out, slinging my bag on to my shoulder. I turned and gave my mom a small wave before walking towards the doors. I tightened my grip on the strap of the bag as I pushed through the doors and glanced around the hallway in front of me. It was obviously the senior hallway, seeing as the people looked older than the freshman. I was going in as a junior. I would have been a sophomore, but I skipped a grade in primary school.
My eyes continued to bounce around the area before it landed on a figure. A guy. His side leaned against the locker and he appeared to be scrolling through his phone. His black skinny jeans clung to his legs, a Guns N Roses shirt that fit him perfectly, and bracelets were stacked on both his wrists. He lifted up his free hand to brush his curly brown locks away from his eyes while they scanned the screen of his phone. I was startled when his eyes flicked up in one swift motion and immediately landed on me. I realized that he must have only looked at me because I had been staring and I immediately averted my gaze in a different direction.
I frantically glanced around the area before my eyes stopped on a door. Main office. Yes, that's where I'm suppose to be going. I made my way over to the door and pushed it open, stepping inside. At the front desk a woman, maybe in her late 20s, glanced up at me and gave me a large smile.
"Hello! You're Luke, am I correct?" she asked, her head tilting to the side a bit as she waited for my reply. I nodded my head once, a small smile curving on to my lips. "Well it's a pleasure to meet you, Luke. I'm Mrs. Berry. I've set some things up so your first day won't be too bad, hun. On the desk right there is your schedule, and right here," she stood up and made her way over to a guy who walked out of one of the other rooms.
His skin was a bit tan and his black hair was settled across his forehead. I took a quick moment to scan his face. His cheeks were a bit chubby and his eyes seemed a bit squinted, maybe he was Asian? I don't know. "This is Calum, he's in some of your classes and he'll help you find your way around," Mrs. Berry beamed as she nodded her head a bit, taking my schedule from the desk and handing it to me. "Other than that, your first period starts in five minutes, better get going," she added.
Calum and both walked out of the office together and into the hallway. The hallway was now nearly deserted except for the few students still making their way into their classes. I glanced once more at the spot where I first saw the guy with the bracelets only to find that it was empty. "So, you're Luke, right?" asked Calum as he smiled warmly at me. I nodded my head once in confirmation as I returned the smile. He then took my schedule from my hands and took a moment to look over it before he began walking, waving his hand for me to follow.
"Alright, Luke. As you know already, I'm Calum. And you're first class is math. A great way to start the day, isn't it?" he chuckled a bit as we walked. A chuckle escaped my own lips before I nodded my head in agreement while replying, "Sounds fantastic." Calum then stopped outside of a room and handed my schedule back to me. "After first period I'll be back to show you your next class. But I'm a bit surprised, this math is pretty much all seniors. You must be a smart one, huh?" he joked. I let out a soft laugh before I nodded my head a bit, "I suppose you could say that."
Calum then knocked twice on the door. After a few seconds a man, perhaps in his 40s, opened it. He gave us both a quick smile before stepping out into the hallway with us. "Mr.Peterson, this is Luke. He's new and this is his first period," explained Calum. Mr.Peterson nodded his head once before he replied, "Thank you for leading him, Calum. I'll take it from here. You hurry along before you get late to your next class." Calum nodded his head once, gave me a reassuring smile, and then began making his way down the hallway.
Mr. Peterson opened the door for me to step inside, then followed me. My palms instantly began to sweat as I felt all eyes in the room land on me. I don't blame them, though. No one knows me and there I was, right in the front of the classroom. I lifted my gaze up and took a quick glance around at the faces in the room. My eyes then stopped on one.
The boy with the bracelets.

FanficHe's way too good at math for his age. Not that he's any younger than me, though. Bottom line is, I need him if I want to pass this class.
