YOU WALKED INTO THE ENTRANCE OF THE LARGE ARCADE, YOUR EYES WIDENING IN PURE BLISS UPON ARRIVAL. there were a variety of enjoyable games at the local arcade you went to every weekend, like tetris, space invaders, and even lazer tag.
however, your eyes were only focused on one certain game that was sitting alone in the back. no one seemed to be occupying that game at the moment, which was a lucky sight for you since it was your favorite game of all-time.
so, you happily walked towards the deserted game machine, lots of excitement pumping through your veins as you got closer and closer to your desired game. your heavy bag of quarters rattled with every cheerful step you took, the sound never disappearing at all.
once you got there, you opened your small bag of quarters, immediately being greeted with a bunch of old, rusty quarters that one of your friends gave you as a friendly gift. you then grabbed one of the quarters from the bag and carefully inserted it into the game machine's slot.
the game's title, 'arcadia', appeared on the rectangular screen in colorful, cursive letters in front of an 8-bit background, causing you to become even more thrilled to play the entertaining game. you were about to press the 'begin' button that was on the machine until you saw the screen turn completely white. your body slowly started dissolving into green, yellow, and black pixels that soon went inside of the blank screen.
you eventually saw yourself in a wide and expansive valley full of grass and wild cows. there was a bridge in the distance that led to a large, futuristic city.
before you were able to start walking, both of your eyes shot towards a tall female who wore a white dress with one strap that reached the ground. it was accompanied with a brown, leather belt and a pair of brown sandals. she held a long and thin purple staff that had a floating, purple cube on top of it.
the female glanced towards you and sent you a friendly wave with her other hand before walking closer towards you. "hello! my name is hannah." she happily introduced as she let out a quiet giggle afterwards. "i am the rule giver of the game, arcadia. who might you be?"
"i'm (y/n). it's nice to meet you," you told hannah, continuing to stare at her face with slight worry. "why am i here right now? i only see these sort of things happen in movies."
"well, i'm the one who sent you here with my trusty staff," hannah explained, grinning at the statement she just made. "i sent you here because arcadia is in danger. the final boss, veigar, is planning on spreading a deadly virus that could infect this game and all other games at this arcade along with the other battle bosses. they could potentially break free from the arcade world and move onto the real world if they aren't stopped." she elaborated, her black eyes filling with seriousness. "not even the top three heroes could stop them. that's why we need a talented gamer like you to help us save arcadia."
"i'm not as talented as you think," you shyly commented, rubbing the back of your neck with embarrassment.
hannah rolled both of her eyes at you, brushing a few strands of her light brown hair out of her face. "you were fifth place in the tetris tournament, and first place in the space invaders tournament at this arcade. you are one of the best gamers i've ever seen. you have so many amazing skills that'll definitely be useful for defeating all of the bosses." she then let out a soft sigh, putting a hand on her hip as she did so. "so, are you in or will it be game over?"
you placed a finger on your chin for a second, carefully contemplating the important decision that you needed to make. after a few more seconds, you nodded at the female that stood in front of you, gladly agreeing to her offer. "i'm in."
hannah gave you a relieved smile as she turned around and gestured for you to follow her. "alright, i'm going to show you the way to arcadia city, which is the capital of this game. it won't take us too long." she said, starting to walk on feet again.
you abruptly followed behind the rule giver, a massive grin erupting on your face. this was finally your chance to beat the final boss of arcadia since you never did before. you always faced him whenever you played the game, but you never beat him. no one could beat him. he was just way too powerful for anyone. but, there was a glimmer of hope inside of you that could possibly give you a chance of giving veigar a game over, and also set a huge record for the entire world to see.
