Katherine’s POV

I stayed silent when Alicia sat down next to me in the waiting room.

“Dr. Jones will be with you in a moment,” the nurse informed us.

I sat stiff, with my arms crossed.

Alicia sighed, “I can tell him to stop texting me.”

I dropped my head and shook it from side to side, “No.”

“What do you want me to do then?” Alicia whispered.

I closed my eyes, knowing I would regret the decision later, “Just don’t tell me anything about what he says.”

“So you’re not mad that I’m talking to him?” she raised her eyes brows.

“Katherine Owens?” I looked up and saw an old, scruffy man was looking at Alicia and I.

I slowly rose from my seat and followed him down the hall.

“Hello Katherine, I’m Dr. Jones, but you can call me Jonsey.” He introduced himself.

“So Katherine,” he kept walking in front of me, “How was your first day?”

“It was alright, I guess,” I said as we entered his office.

He turned, “Just alright?”

I nodded slowly, “Nothing special or memorable happened.”

“Make any friends?” he asked as he took a seat across from me.

I nodded, thinking of Oliver.

“Don’t you think they’d be hurt if you thought your first encounter wasn’t memorable?”

I stayed still, thinking of my day in a different point of view.

“I didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but I couldn’t help but hear you and your friend talking out there,” he pointed towards the door.

“It’s nothing,” I quickly replied. I clenched my jaw shut, not wanting him to start digging down that trench.

Dr. Jones raised his eye brows and stared out the window, “I didn’t think you’d tell me anything on the first day.”

I shrugged, “There’s nothing worth telling.”

“It was something worth fighting over,” he replied.

I huffed and dropped eye contact.

Harry’s POV

The lights and atmosphere I had dreamed about were giving me a headache. The girl grinding against my lap wasn’t doing anything for me. She probably wanted me to take her home, but that was the last thing I wanted to do.

I felt a buzz from my pocket. I gently pushed on the girls back, she whipped around with a disgusted look on her face.

“What the fuck!” her squeaky voice rang through my ears.

I ignored her and dug my phone out of my pocket. I shot up and dodged through the crowd of the club. I couldn’t wait, I answered even though I could barely hear her voice.

“Harry?”

“Just a minute,” I said and pushed the door open.

Flashes ignited and it infuriated me. I stared at the ground as paparazzi crowded around me.

“Hey Alicia,” I sighed, knowing I couldn’t go anywhere and be alone.

“Is this a bad time?” she asked quietly.

“No. Is everything alright?” my heart beated faster thinking of another trip to the hospital.

“Yes, everything is fine. Katherine saw you texted me and she got a little mad,” Alicia trailed off.

I paused, “Should I talk to her?”

“God no,” Alicia quickly replied.

I closed my eyes, I knew it was a long shot that Katherine would want to talk to me, but it was worth a shot.

I sighed disappointedly, “Okay.”

There was dead silence for a few minutes before Alicia quietly said, “I think you should stop texting me.”

I dryly laughed and shook my head, “I don’t know if I could do that.”

“Harry you tried your best. There’s nothing more you could do to win her back,” Alicia’s words was exactly what I didn’t want to hear.

I stopped dead in my tracks. I had been so focused on the conversation, I had blocked out all of the people around me. I could feel tears in my eyes, my throat went dry.

I cleared my throat and looked around, “You’re right.”

“I’m sorry for any tension I brought between you two. I’ll stop texting, but I just want you to know I will never stop worrying about her. If anything and I mean anything happens to her please call me,” I waited for a response.

“I promise,” that’s what she left me with.

My frown was seen by everyone.

“Why so glum Harry?” paparazzi acted as if they were genuinely worried.

I didn’t respond. I just turned on my heels and headed to the club.
