Rosalind couldn't believe that she managed to get away from those pirate thugs. She pulled the reins on the horse she had stolen, indicating for it to stop. She jumped off it's back, making sure to pat its nose and thank the animal for her safe journey. She decided that she would stop here in the clearing she found herself in.
The small clearing was covered in lush green grass, colorful flowers and was surrounded by a dense forest. If anyone had followed her, they wouldn't be able to see her through the thick foliage.
She was tired from traveling for a whole day and was parched, cursing herself for not buying any food or water before she left the pirate town. She tethered the horse to a nearby tree and sat herself against the trunk. Closing her eyes for a few hours so she and her horse could rest.
Rosalind woke up as the sun peeked over the valley. She untied her horse from the tree and began walking through the forest, intending on finding a pond for the horse to drink from. She walked around for maybe twenty minutes when she came upon a small pond tucked behind some trees. It's shimmering clear blue water making her salivate. It looked like an oasis with the vines falling down from the trees and the lily pads that sat nicely on the water.
She led her horse to the edge of the pond, as it bent its neck down to drink, she kneeled and splashed some of the cool pond water onto her face. This place is so peaceful, and she wished she could stay like this forever. Then she remembered her sister and how much she would love this place too.
She reminded herself to bring her sister to an area like this one once they're reunited. Hopefully the jewels she stole from the pirates will be enough to get them some food, clothes and a place to stay.
She hopped back on her horse and began to ride back in the direction of Lucida, a small town on the outskirts of Nyla. Looking at her map she'll reach there before sundown. She decided that Lucida will be her last stop of her journey hoping to reach their old home the next day.
Starting off into the forest, Rosalind felt a bit uneasy, as if someone was watching her. Kicking the horse to urge it to go faster, they galloped through the forest until they were eventually met with the gates of Lucidia.
Rosalind pulls her hood down over her eyes as she pays the fee after entering the gates. Three gold pieces sounded like a lot to her for a small traveling town. She found a small barn where she could hold her horse until she decided to leave.
Paying the kind man and trusting her horse to him. She left the stalls and intended to look around town square before finding an inn to retreat to. There were so many pretty jewels and hair pieces. She stopped at a stall that was littered with beautiful hair ornaments. The one in the pocket of her satchel suddenly feeling heavy.
the satchel reminded her of the jewels she meant to pawn for some coin. Finding a small pawn shop tucked away in-between two other buildings, she smiled. The bell chimed as she was welcomed by a short scruffy man. She walked up to the counter where he asked what he could do for a pretty lady such as herself.
She scoffed as she placed a few different gems and a handful of jewelry on the table in front of him. The man looked at her, then to the items she was offering.
"Six gold pieces." The man said simply. Rosalind's eyes said it all. She wasn't pleased with the offer coming from the man.
"Six gold pieces, seriously? I paid half of that to be let into this town. I want sixteen gold pieces." She stared at him a little nervous as she's never really bartered before. The man chuckled lowly.
