chpt. 8

Usually people would do this when they are married, but I guess I'm getting a swing at it now. Currently I am at Jullian's house with his mom and dad, and I could already tell that his mom doesn't like me. I'm not gonna let her ruin a beautiful day like this for me. If anything happens, I could happily drive back home, and forget all about this.

Most of all I couldn't wait to meet Anthony's wife Candice, I'm pretty sure they both have great personalities, considering I've already met Anthony. I was in Jullian's room scrolling on instagram when he barged in the room.

"Hey kay they're here"
"ok I'm coming". I got up from the bed and walked down the steps. As I was walking into the kitchen I could hear the commotion from afar, as soon as I made my presence known the room got silent.

"Oh hey u must be Kehaulani?" The woman I assumed to be Candice asked
"yes the one and only". I replied
"you are so beautiful, Jullian made a great choice with you"
"yes he did, but I can't take all the credit, it's all because of my mom that I look like this". She cleared her throat.
"yea, she must be gorgeous" she walked away.

"Well Kehaulani would you like to help put dinner together?" Anthony asked.
"Yes, I would love to help". I helped cut the potatoes, onion, and pepper, for the roast they were going to make, alongside asparagus, and carrots. Our beverage was gonna be lemonade and for dessert, once again, strawberry cheesecake.

When I was finished I washed my hands to get the stench from my hands, I watched as Candice and Anthony interacted, I could tell that they have a well put together history. We sat and talked until the food was finally ready to be served. I reached into the cabinet and me and Jullian set the table, I sat the glasses down as Jullian put down the plates.

"Table set, now we could eat" jullian said.
"Yea, but don't rush it, your not that hungry are you?"
"Very, I haven't eaten all day since we had that pizza, so that should tell you why"
"well you'll just have to wait until everyone gets in here. I went into the kitchen to grab napkins, as well as the silverware.

We were soon seated at the table, joining in prayer as Mr. Morrison blessed the food, as soon as he was done we all said our "amen" altogether. The dishes were passed around the table as each and everyone of us gathered food unto our plates.

"So...Kehaulani, how did u meet Jullian?" Candice asked as she wiped her mouth with a napkin.
"Umm, we met at school actually, we stepped on some toes at first, but we soon agreed to apologize to one another and start over, and that's how our relationship started". I looked over at Jullian
"so you didn't see him as someone on the football team with good looks and a wallet?". Mrs. Morrison asked.

I cleared my throat "actually no, I didn't really care that he played football, to be honest, I felt like he was stuck up and life was too good to be true, but we had a big understanding about judging so we handled it. I've always had a way to take care of myself and still to this day I've never had a problem with using my own money" I replied.

"I think it's time to get the cheesecake baby" Anthony said to Candice.
"Yea, I think it's time for dessert". She got up from the table and pulled Mrs. Morrison up with her. "Come help me in the kitchen please". They both walked away from the table and went into the kitchen.

"Sorry again" Jullian said.
"It's okay"
"no it's not" Mr. Morrison interrupted.
"No really it's okay"
"I will have a talk with her, I'm sorry she's acting like this". He got up from the table and also went into the kitchen. I looked at Jullian.
"this is not how I expected things to go, I wanted you to have a great time, but this is how things turned out".

"I still had a great time, I love how you at least tried to put effort in"
"she just has a bad time accepting people in that's all". I looked up to see they were walking back in with the cheesecake and separate plates. Candice sat the cheesecake down and began cutting slices as she handed plates to everyone at the table.

"Thank you" we all said
"no problem I appreciate the invite".
"Anytime" Mr. Morrison said. As soon as I finished my plate I got up from the table.
"I can take you guys plate"
"oh no sweetie, we got it"

"no I insist". They handed over the dishes.
"I'll help you" Jullian got up from the table as he gathered the dishes from the table. We both walked into the kitchen, I sat the dishes down onto the counter, and put my head into my hands as I blew out air.

"Are you okay?" Jullian asked
"yea, I'm okay just a little stressed"
"look don't worry about her, she's not being herself" "well she's clearly implying that I'm a gold digger and you know I'm not".
"We both know that you aren't, so don't let that get to you ok"
"yea". I turned around to make dish water, I gathered the dishes and put them into the warm sudded water.
[30 minutes later]

I got up from the table "it was nice to meet you guys". I looked at Candice and Anthony "and I appreciate the welcome Mr and Mrs. Morrison, I really enjoyed myself tonight, thank you"
"your welcome, you can come back any time". Mr. Morrison said.

I walked into the living room and grabbed my jacket off the rack, as I was putting my jacket on Jullian walked up to me.
"Drive safe"
"I will". I gave him a hug and walked out the door. I got my keys out of my bag and walked up to my car, as I was opening my car door, Candice came to the door.
"Here's some cheesecake for you and your mother" "thank you"
"your welcome, goodnight"
"goodnight".

I got in my car and closed the door. I turned the ignition and put my items onto the floor board, not before waving as I pulled out of the driveway. I played music along my car ride home to make the ride more comfortable, because everyone knows I hate driving at night. I had finally made it home after 7 songs, I cut the car off and hopped off, not before going to the backseat to get my bag and the plate.

Once I had made it inside my house I dropped my keys into the key bowl, to my surprise she was still up. I walked into the living room because she was watching T.V.
"hey mother" she looked at me
" hey daughter"
"I'm gonna go up and take a shower and then I'm heading to bed"
"okay goodnight baby"
"goodnight".

I walked into the kitchen and sat the plate in the fridge and begin walking up the stairs.
[1 hour later]

I had finally gotten situated in my room, I had taken my shower, brushed my teeth, did my skin care routine. I washed my hair so that I could do another style so that way after school I could go to my hair appointment, because I needed to get something done. I'm all the way natural so my stylist suggested that I get a lace front. It's been on my mind for a while and now I feel like I want to wear a wig.
