It had been a month now since the last Quidditch game of Hogwarts for the term. A month since Hermione parted ways with Sam.

Hermione had stopped crying now. But her heart was still in pieces. She felt so weak and numb inside, that she thought she would not be able to feel anything again.

Hermione could only see Sam in the Great Hall during dinner, in the classroom during their Ancient Runes and Potions classes and a few other times passing along the hallways. She swore Sam was avoiding her. Even in the library, Sam's absence lingered like a knife in her heart.

Hermione just missed her. She would wake up in the middle of the night, having occasional nightmares of Sam and Rose together or Cormac and herself dating. She'd sometimes forget every morning when she'd wake up, her hand reaching to the other side of her bed, where Sam used to lie, searching for her warmth that was no longer there.

"I guess this is how much it hurts," Hermione suddenly muttered as she drank her second Butterbeer. She and her friends were in The Three Broomsticks one Sunday afternoon. "It was my first love, after all. And I have nothing to compare it with."

Ginny squeezed her hand and said, "You'll get over it in time, you'll even laugh about it. About how you wallow through the sorrows."

Ron laughed, almost choking from his drink. "Take that from someone who has been with numerous boyfriends before."

"Shut it, Won-Won," Ginny spat, stepping her foot against his.

"Ow!"

"Why are you called Won-Won?" Luna butted in.

Harry chuckled. "Oh, Ron and Lavender are a thing now, right? And she calls her Won-Won."

"Shut up, Harry! You're supposed to be on my side," Ron interjected. "And she's the only one who's allowed to call me that."

Everyone around the table except Hermione laughed. All Hermione was able to catch was the word Lavender. How she longed for the sweet smell of lavender that only she can find around Sam.

It was already dinner when they got back to Hogwarts from visiting Hogsmeade.

As they were passing along the small corridors leading to the Great Hall while avoiding Mr. Filch, Hermione's eyes caught something from a distance.

Four individuals were crouching behind a nearby bush. And one was approaching Hagrid. Hermione squinted her eyes and could confirm from the glinting long platinum hair that one of them was Samantha.

"I'll be back in a sec," Hermione bid to her friends who were too busy trying not to get caught.

What have you been up to, Sam? Hermione wondered, all worried, as she perked herself above the crooked stairs outside the castle grounds.

As Hagrid left with Goyle heading probably towards the Greenhouses, Sam and others tiptoed towards the other side.

Hermione gasped softly as she stood straight, seeing that they seemed to be heading towards the Whomping Willow tree.

Hermione heard Sam cast a spell while pointing her wand at the tree but she couldn't catch the spell used. The swaying tree suddenly became immobile as if it was just a normal tree. But the Whomping Willow tree is never just a normal tree.

Then they made a ran and disappeared through a hole just by its huge roots.

Hermione's mouth opened in disbelief, her eyes widening. Oh, Samantha, what are you doing with them? You could get yourself in big trouble.
