The next few days went by in a blur.
I had been regularly walking home from school like I usually did. Although this time, I hadn't came across any mysterious men. I hadn't mentioned my incident with 'J' to anyone. I didn't want my best friend or mom to start bashing out on me over taking a ride with strangers... I wouldn't blame them. It was pretty stupid.
However, my best friend had became more insisting of giving me rides home. She had seen the horrible news of Joker escaping and became worried about my afternoon walks home. I had to admit I understood her concerns but I felt guilty if accepted her generous offers.
I lived in the more unfortunate side of Gotham. The part of Gotham where most of the buildings were abandoned or in uninhabitable conditions. My mom had been lucky enough to find a small cozy house in a somewhat friendly neighborhood.
My best friend, Alice, on the other hand, lived on the wealthy side of Gotham. She had a nice mansion and a lovely kind family. She was guaranteed a bright and successful future. After all, she was cousins with one the most powerful, richest man in Gotham. Bruce Wayne. We would joke about how Alice had a whole plan to set me up with her cousin. I couldn't lie, it was a fun thing to fantasize but Bruce Wayne was way out of league for a young high school girl who didn't have shit figured out.
Anyways, the last thing I wanted was to be an inconvenience and have Alice's driver drive us around both sides of Gotham wasting hours of their time. I had walked home practically ever since I started school, a little more wouldn't hurt.

As I walked down the streets of Gotham, I noticed how empty the streets were...again...
Was there another psycho clown on the loose?
My phone began to ring startling me from my thoughts. I looked to see a few missed calls and messages from my mom.

Mom: i don't think im gonna stop by this afternoon. They cut my break short. There's leftovers in the microwave and MAKE SURE TO TEXT ME WHEN YOU GET HOME! love u.

I looked down disappointed and a little upset. The only time i really got time to see my mom was in the afternoon between her breaks.
She would usually come home around 11:00pm and would just head straight to bed. It sucked not having bonding time with mom.

I continued to walk home, but this time not so excited since there was nothing to look forward to.
The sun had begun to set and it created a mixture of orange, red, yellow colors in the sky. It was a beautiful site since most of the time Gotham had stormy and rainy days. Not that I'm complaining cause rainy days are oddly peaceful.
I was so distracted by the sky that when I felt someone bump into me, it nearly made me jump out of my skin.
"Oh sorry I didnt-" I began to say but quickly stopped when I noticed no one was there. That was strange... I could've swore I had bumped into someone. I started to feel uneasy.

I looked around and ahead of me was an alley way. I could spot a black van parked in it as if it was waiting for someone. The van looked familiar. I cautiously walked towards it but made sure I was still at a safe distance just incase I needed to sprint.
I noticed the dark tinted windows and i soon knew who the van belonged to. It was J's van.
Was he following me? Or was I just being a paranoid bitch. I made dumb excuses for it like maybe it was just a coincidence that I bumped into him again or maybe he had recently moved into the neighborhood...
I still didn't want to take any chances, so I took out my phone to call my mom when suddenly, someone yanked me close to their chest.
"Lookin' for someone hmm?!" The man holding me said. The voice was masculine, yet high pitched and theatrical. My back was against their front side making it impossible to see my capturer's face. I tried to fight against him but his grip on me was too strong. I began to scream for help but my screams were soon muffled by a gloved hand. Even if someone did hear my screams, I doubt they would come to my rescue.
The figure began to drag me towards the black van I had saw in the alley way. Was my kidnapper J?! That theory was soon debunked when I was thrown into the van's passenger seat letting me get a glimpse of my kidnapper.
The man who had just captured me was wearing war paint. He had black paint around his eyes making his chocolate brown eyes darker. Red paint mainly smudged around the lower half of his face. But the thing that caught my attention the most was his scars. He had deep painful scars on both sides of his cheeks that stretched from his lips to his ears. The scars made him seem as he was smiling.
A Glasgow smile...
I immediately recognized his face from the news I had watched earlier that week.
He was the Joker. I have been kidnapped by the Joker!
I kept repeating that in my head but the more I heard it, the less it made sense.
What would a guy like the Joker have to do with a person like me?
The Joker caught me staring and opened his mouth slightly as if he was about to say something. He kept a hard gaze on me only making me more nervous. He reached into his coat and pulled out a rag.
One second he was staring at me, the next he was forcefully holding the rag against my face. I tried to fight back but I started to inhale the chemicals. My useless kicks and punches became weaker. My vision went blurry and the outside noises became muffled.
I passed out.

When I regained consciousness, I was laying down on the cold floor of a dirty old room. It was freezing and I was only wearing ripped jeans with a white tank top. The room only had one small dim light and no windows. I could see the spiderwebs in the corners and it made me shiver.
The faint voices of men laughing and talking could be heard. Where the hell was i? But even more important, how the fuck do I escape!
The sound of footsteps became louder. Then I heard a click and the door opened. As the tall man came closer to the light I was able to see the wore out war paint.
"Ahh you're awake... took you long enough." Joker said making his pitch a bit deeper as he said the last part.
I didn't say anything back. I just sat against the wall holding my knees against my chest. I was too terrified to speak and if I spoke the words would come out sheepish.
He stood in front of me and looking down at me. He was so tall... my head would probably barley touch his shoulders if I stood by him.
I built the courage to finally speak
"What-what do you want from me?" I said trying to sound as brave as I could but failed miserably.
The joker leaned down so that our faces were now at the same level. As he held my chin tightly with one hand, he pulled out a purple metallic switchblade out of his coat.
He pressed the blade against my cheek, slightly poking it but not enough to draw blood.
"I want to use you as a message... uh message to show Gotham that even the most ordinary girl is able to get lost in the CHAOS!" He said in a dangerous, yet excited tone.
I sat there speechless. What was this psycho clown planning on doing after he was done spreading his 'message.'
"Are you gonna kill me..." I said gently.
He lowered the switchblade, safely putting it back in his coat. He stood back up and before he walked out the door, he finally spoke again.
"I dunno... if you be a uh good girl I might keep you as my toy but we'll see..." he said smirking and as the door shut with a click, the sound of his mocking laughter became faint.
I was felt speechless again.
I leaned my head against the cold wall. There was no use in trying to escape. How could anyone escape the joker anyways? Who was dumb enough to do that!
Maybe sleeping would keep my mind off of things.
I took in the darkness of the room one last time and then gently closed my eyes...
