Comparison will kill you

Before you read I'd be honest. I'm pretty sure this story is not that good. I just wanted aware everyone about comparison. I had a few rough drafts and I was kinda confused myself and finally I made this. I hope you will still like it and comment what correction could I had done. Check out my last story, I really think that would be worth your time.

"So, these are all your marks. This time Sarah beat Elly with 4 more marks. Congratulations Sarah and you too Elly."said the teacher.

Sarah and Elly always topped the class. It was a curiosity for the whole class everytime to know who topped among Sarah and Elly. This time Sarah had brought 596 out of 600 while Elly brought 592. Along with being the toppers of the class they also were best friends. Sarah was very good at chemistry while physics was Elly's game.

*Later in the break*

Elly - I'm going to the canteen to bring food. You stay here. (Telling to Sarah)

Sarah(replies) - Okay, I'm here. Bring the food fast. I'm dying.

*Elly goes to the canteen while Sarah waits near the stairs. While waiting for Elly Sarah overhears some of her classmates gossiping*

Vina(one of their classmate) - Sarah topped this only because, this time chemestry was easy.(says this to the other two girls)

Caffy - Yes you are right. Chemestry was quite easy. Even i was able to bring above 80 marks.

Sarah(losing her temper) - What do you mean by I can't top.

Vina - Look look who was hearing us secretly. Can't tolerate if someone says anything to her.

Sarah - You!!.... (Bursts into anger)

*Sarah gets stopped by Elly*

Elly(trying to calm her down) - No no Sarah don't get angry. You can easily defeat me. I bet she didn't mean it.

Vina(to her friends) - Let's go. Who wants to babble with her.

*While they leave Sarah looks towards them with anger*

Elly - Don't mind them. We should go eat. I bet you're really hungry.

*Later after school ends. Sarah and Vina are the only ones left in the bus. Sarah ignores Vina while Vina comes near her seat to talk*

Vina - You don't get it, do you?

Sarah - What do you mean?

Vina - Hmm. You are just getting into Elly's plan.

Sarah(confused) - What do mean by her plan. I don't get it. You're just pissing me!

Vina - I'm just trying to help you. Don't you wonder why Elly said that you can defeat her and why she hold you back from fighting me.

Sarah - What the hell are you trying to say! She knows my strength that's why she accepted and she held me back because she's my friend.

Vina - You're so dumb. She's trying to keep you soft. You're correct, she knows your strength, that's why she holding you back so she can get ahead.

Sarah(getting angry) - You're just spitting out rubbish!

Vina - Hmph! You don't believe me. Just wait for the final semester. You'll she how she will crush you.

*As she completes her words she hops our of the bus leaving Sarah all confused and doubtful*

*After reaching home, Sarah shows her marks to her parents*

Her dad(as a joke) - How come you beat Elly this time.

Sarah(replies) - This time chemestry was quite easy.(realizing that she said what she was arguing aginst till now)

Her dad - Hmph! That is why i was thinking, how come you beat her? She's so better than you. You should learn something from her.

*Although this was no new for her but this her father's words made her remember about what Vina was saying. She started doubting about her's and Elly's friendship.*

*Next day she spent the whole time thinking about what Vina said. This hampers her brain so much that whoever she sees talking she feels as if everyone is saying that Elly is better than her. This affects her and Elly's friendship and slowly slows she gets aparted away from Elly. Elly on the other hand thinks that Sarah is wanting some alone time nad tries to give her own space.*

*The thoughts start geeting over Sarah and she gets so much disturbed by the thoughts that her main motto of study becomes beating Elly so that everyone would think that she is better than her.*

As Sarah walks down the hallway for the final semester, she says to herself,
"This time I'm gonna beat Elly an.. an.. and then everyone wou.. would say that I'm the best. Yes.. yes.. i will beat her."(in a frantic voice)

*The final 10th class board exams starts and everyone start giving it their all including Sarah but the thoughts still keep hampering her mind. She tries to focus but her thoughts just don't let her. She was right in the borderline of loosing control and then she looks out of the window and sees Elly walking down the hall and this was the end. She loses her mind and starts look here and there. And the only thing she sees is people saying that Elly is better than her and she can never beat her.*

* She spend the whole exam with all these thoughts roaming through her mind and doesn't realise that the time slips out of her hand. After the exam ends she becomes hopeless and just runs away in desperation of what will happen next. She gives all her exams in the same state and her situation gets worse and worse.*

*After the last exam she is just a person broken from inside who is living in sheer despair of defeat. As she walk away listening everyone talk about how well there exams went, when she hears a familiar voice. She hears Vina and her friends talking, where she realises the truth.*

Vina(to her friends) - I'm pretty sure that Sarah would be so messed up right now. I fooled her to believe that Elly is trying to keep her down and made her believe that everyone thinks she is a loser who can never defeat Elly.

*Her friends laugh along with her, while Sarah realises that what big bafoon she was. And this, shatters the remaing broken pieces of her. With her grief and despair she thinks that she is nothing just a loser who is useless and no good for anyone. Sadly she fails to withstand anymore and gives up her life.*

*Everyone thinks she did bad in exams and commited suicide in depression. A sad environment keeps up for few days and then everything returns back to normal for everyone but a innocent life, a family and a friendship was destroyed just because of comparision.*
